This is a year when old masters show us how it's done. First, in the death metal enclave, Asphyx showed us how real death metal is supposed to sound, and now it's time for the somehow stale thrash pond full of seemingly fresh fish who stink of plagiarism to be shown the real thrash deal. Overkill, who already swept the thrash scene clean 2 years ago with Ironbound, are back with The Electric Age.

Here's to hoping it has the same audacity as Ironbound.
Void Eater - 21.01.2012 at 23:46
If it's half as good as Ironbound, it'll without a doubt be album of the year.
Zaphod - 21.01.2012 at 23:53
Oh, this should be good, Ironbound was very pleasant.
R'Vannith - 22.01.2012 at 00:32
Rating: 9 Got a good feeling about this one.
Mattybu - 22.01.2012 at 00:35
Ironbound was awesome. This is my most watched for in 2012 so far.
Angelic Storm - 22.01.2012 at 00:39
If this one can top "Ironbound", it will be a strong contender for album of the year as 2012 draws to a close, I'm sure.
AndMetalForAll - 22.01.2012 at 01:07
Rating: 9 If comes close of Ironbound it's a hell of victory
Angelic Storm - 22.01.2012 at 15:18
Apparently these are 4 song titles that will appear on the album: "Electric Rattlesnake", "Wish You Were Dead", "Drop The Hammer", & "Save Yourself".

Yep! Someone who moderates the official Australian Overkill website gave me those titles, so they're genuine I think.

Rating: 8 I still haven't listened to Ironbound for some reason, so I better get on that.

Wouldn't even be the album of the month if its only half as good as ironbound.

Lol'd @ the rap songtitles. "Drop The Hammer", "Come And Get It", "Good Night"...

YO DAWG OVURKEELZ IZ HIP-HOP BAND NOW!!!1

Rap songtitles? "Drop The Hammer" sounds more like a Hammerfall songtitle than a rap one, both Judas Priest and AC/DC have a song called "Come And Get It", and "Good Night" was a Beatles' song long before rap was even invented. So all in all, they aren't "rap songtitles" at all!

Pay no attention to the man-troll sub creature.
"Drop The Hammer" actually reminded me a bit of Motorhead, relating to "The Hammer." And wouldn't "Good Night" be similar to Exodus' "Good Riddance?"

I realised after I'd replied, that I'd called him out on being a troll in a thread a few weeks ago. lol I should have realised just by the ridiculous post...

I think "Good Night" will either be a ballad, or a thrash song with lyrics about ending life, hence "Good Night".
BrutalN00dle - 28.01.2012 at 07:50
Rating: 9 Just so you kids know, "Drop the Hammer" is a biker term, implying going as fast as possible.
BitterCOld - 28.01.2012 at 07:57
Drop the hammer, in this case, was a science experiment.

warned each post to see what the immediate and automatic sanctions would be.

then i just really decided to go Duke Nukem ... banned. all posts and impending pms nuked.

the MSAF has a fleet of bombers ready to carpet bomb his neighborhood and reduce his postal code to rubble if i feel like pressing the trigger before passing out...

Now that you mention it, I have heard that before. Wouldn't surprise me if this is what the song is about...

@BitterCold: MSAF! hehee
ovakilOZ - 07.02.2012 at 08:12
You can hear "Good Night" playing through the Behind the Scene's video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRA_YRVJjdg&feature=player_embedded
Sorry to dissapoint, but it is far from a ballad.
ovakilOZ - 24.02.2012 at 04:33
New single, and there should be a film clip coming verry soon.
Enjoy......

Yeah i agree if this is half as good as ironbound I will be very very very very pleased. Its a pleasant departure to have a band who is on their 16th album putting out their best(arguably) material.
Rulatore - 19.03.2012 at 23:13
Rating: 8 I liked it
Kamil - 20.03.2012 at 21:31
Rating: 9 Album is avaible to listen and I can already tell, that this is going to be thrash metal stuff of the year
I will add, that TEA is better, than whole poor top thrash metal stuff of 2011

Rating: 8 I'm liking this quite more than I may have expected.
Wraith000 - 23.03.2012 at 16:33

  Neck straining material. Holly cow...
Can't remember the last time I've been headbanging this hard.
R'Vannith - 25.03.2012 at 13:30
Rating: 9 Some good stuff as always, they rarely disappoint. 'Black Daze' is a favourite at the moment.

Rating: 9 3 listens, gets better each time!! "Drop the Hammer" fav so far. Excellent but no "Horrorscope" or "Years of Decay"
iMorphball - 28.03.2012 at 04:04
Rating: 9 Incredible album, an absolute 10/10 in my mind. Liking it much more than Ironbound simply because of the punchier production. Both albums are amazing, but, I think I do prefer the songs on The Electric Age more.

Favorite song on the album is "21st Century Man", really original trash song.
Lit. - 28.03.2012 at 06:49
Just as good as Ironbound, if not better than a tiny tiny bit.
Cuca Beludo - 28.03.2012 at 22:04
My first Overkill album. Amazing album, all songs great... For me, the best 2012 release so far.
And before I forget, Metallica sucks
Iron Nostarion - 29.03.2012 at 22:51
Rating: 10 Hello guys, I am really wondering if you could help me here. I am kinda having some kind of weird case. It's like my head cannot stop banging while this album is playing. I am also really getting addictive and I can't stop playing this album. Is it healthy? I asked my local doctor, he said let me hear it, but then he got infected too! What do I do.. plsplsplspls helpppppp....!!!

>_>

This album fucking rocks.
elekctric - 30.03.2012 at 08:01
Rating: 9 I got my copy and noticed the copyright date was from 2011 ... wondered if it was a misprint on the cd or not .... being it is a 2012 release... But regardless it is an amazing album.
BlindToNegotiate - 31.03.2012 at 06:44
Rating: 8 This is my first Overkill album, and since I can't compare it to "old Overkill," as it stands alone, it's a solid work. Now I'm gonna need to do some research and see which of their other albums I can grab.

I'm hooked to Drop the Hammer Down!
raymond2349 - 31.03.2012 at 22:56
Rating: 9 One of the most hard-working metal bands, one high quality album in two years. Overkill is still not a big name after 30 years, maybe that's the reason they are still aggressive and uncompromising.
.Nick - 01.04.2012 at 01:30
Rating: 7 Decent album.

If the Killfest Tour comes to your country, go and see'm though. Overkill is awesome live.

Years of Decay is my favorite. Based on the votes here it appears I'm not alone.

This was strong, but if you want a hint, listen to Ironbound too! \m/ that crushes your thrash metal meter up to the top...that's sweet agressive maniac thrash metal!
Fredd - 04.04.2012 at 21:41
Rating: 8 Meh, my expectations were higher. I think 8 is a very fair score, no more.
malaikat - 07.04.2012 at 13:40
Rating: 6 I dunno, seems like pretty average thrash for me. Listened to album three times, and it still feels "meh". Although, maybe "Vektor" spoiled me in terms of what to expect from a thrash metal release.
giorgos_gr - 30.04.2012 at 21:52
Rating: 10 Very good album as expected! I give it a nine!
ruiaqf - 04.05.2012 at 20:00
  Meh...
Mr. Blonde - 26.05.2012 at 01:13
Rating: 10 This is STILL the best album of 2012 so far. We are nearly in June now, someone is going to have to step up big to top this.

Also
Overkill >>>>>>>>>>> Vektor
nuff said!

Vektor is cool and rather unique but also considerably overrated. It's possible to be all 3 of those things and that is what they are.
RAVASTATOR - 03.06.2012 at 23:41
Rating: 9 Old Wounds, New Scars is my personal standout off the album, ripping guitars in the chorus sound like a devil's chainsaw needing a bit more gas! First Overkill album i've bought and judging from the consistent songwriting on the album, the first of many!
