Staff review by

For fans of Elvenking's early days, what's written in The Pagan Manifesto is guaranteed to bring back some fond memories, as much as create new ones. Their latest album is a welcome return to their roots whilst offering something entirely fresh and promising.

Rating: 9 Will return the Heathenreel feel? I hope so!

Wow, a stunning come back! I loved "Era" a lot, probably most of all Elvenking discography, but may do even better.

Rating: 9 Lots of folk and fantasy stuff over here! The Heathenreel/Wyrd tune is back!

Rating: 9 Does anyone have the REAL lyrics for "Elvenlegions"?

Rating: 6 Some songs are pretty good, others aren't, most are just okay. To me it's an 'almost' album, meaning there are a lot of really great specific sections of songs and some solid ideas but the overall songwriting and album direction just isn't focused and polished enough to truly harness their sound.

Rating: 9 Well, surely their best album since The Winter Wake (my personal favorite from them). So much true folkish feeling, more than the two previous albums (Red Silent Tides and Era, nice albums IMHO)

EDIT: and YES! The Heathenreel feel is back! Another great comeback album (along with SA & Edguy).

Rating: 7 I don't get the Heanthereel feel being back. I was a huge fan of Elvenking in the Heathenreel and Wyrd days and I find nothing simillar from these to those albums. Its not bad but the style seems so different.

Rating: 8 The album Elvenking should have made after "The Winter Wake" in my opinion. It features everything that made the band's first three albums so unique whilst still retaining a melodic yet epic atmosphere, helped to become more relevant by intricate folk musicianship. My personal highlights are the amazing "King of the Elves" and "Twilight of Magic", though near enough every song on here is just as good in their own particular way.

Rating: 9 When i started to listen the album with the first song King Of The Elves i said: wow! what great song, until the point of thinking that the rest of the album was not at this level. But fortunately it was a grower, and i love songs like Elvenlegions, Moonbeam Stone Circle, Towards The Shores, Twilight Of Magic, etc, definitely quite solid.

Rating: 10 For the record, I probably have listened to this album 200 times and I'm not bored yet.
