It would be unlike Leprous to exercise restraint to the point of diminishment and place limitations on fresh efforts. Nonetheless, The Congregation is a compromise.

It's weird. I'm not too sure what to feel about this. It feels... unnatural. It sounds too calculated? Too mechanical? I dunno. I feel songs take calculated paths and sharp turns rather than to just flow naturally, which is how older Leprous albums felt (for the most part). Still trying to get to grips with it. Though I still find Rewind to be fantastic and one of the more "natural" sounding songs.

Yeah I just noticed that myself. It's kind of like math metal. I have to say though, after giving it some time, the album is a solid 9.

Well they said that Einar programmed most of the songs on the computer. So that's why it sounds more technical.

Yeah, after a first listen, I still don't know what to think. There are some great moments, but overall the album is very opaque. I'm appreciating sounds more than songs at this point.

I've programmed songs on a computer that sound more natural...

...but admittedly less technical.

Not sure what I think of this.. The 4 first songs are pretty nice, the intro on Third Law has some really cool guitar riffs, but the rest didn't appeal to me quite, as someone above stated: Sounds like fillers.. I think I have to give this some more chances

Hmm, second listen...the only part that truly stands out to me so far is the climax of "The Flood".

Relistened to it today and, uhm... it's quite good but also unbalanced; I definitely prefer the first half. Within My Fence may be the worst track, then it loses focus, drags a bit, gets redundant. Still worth checking out tho.

Tall Poppy Syndrome is much better... this is still good, but when compared to their debut, it's disappointing

Totally agreed, I doubt anything can surpass this one.

I'd strongly disagree. I'd say that each album they've released since TPP has far surpassed it. TPP has a great opener and closer track, but the rest of the album doesn't really have an identity of its own, unlike pretty much every track from Bilateral, Coal and now The Congregation.

Bit disappointing compared to the last 2. I think the singing was all I really liked on this one.

Better than Coal, not as good as TPS and Bilateral. Not sure if I can get on board with the direction Leprous is heading in. The Price and Rewind are the two standouts here.

This band grows with every album. And by saying "album" I also count the demo "Aeolia". While listening to all the 5 albums in a row I can definitely say that this band evolves constantly. This evolution defines Leprous.

The decline continues, however, I like the groove prog dare I call it, which they created in main riff of "The Price", "Third Law" and "Down". The album drags a lot and is sometimes really uninteresting or better said, sounds like every other modern prog band. This gets even worse in their following release "Malina".

This is the first album I had heard of Leprous and it still blows my mind how much I loved this album and how vividly I can remember this album, it was definitely my AOTY of 2015.
