Fans of Saturday Night Wrist should be beyond ecstatic as Gore feels like the spiritual successor of that sound - but even if you weren't a fan of the Deftones's more experimental phase there is still a lot you'll love on Gore. While Saturday Night Wrist was a bit messy and schizophrenic, Gore takes a more subdued and focused approach. The metal edge is still there and the harsh screams still pop up on occasion but there isn't a single song that bludgeons you with aggression out of nowhere. Instead Chino Moreno utilizes the limits of his voice to create choruses that still sound unbelievably fresh and does so consistently throughout the entire album. I don't know how they keep doing it but the prime of Deftones career may be right now.

Another solid record from one of the most consistent bands I know of. Gives me a more melodic SNW vibe. A combination of that album and Koi No Yokan. Not to mention that guitar solo on Phantom Bride. Their first ever I believe.

I have loved these guys since I was 15. I own every album. I have listened to this dozens of times the last few days. That being said, I'm pretty disappointed. None of the tracks really stand out. I would say this is their worst album since the self-titled. It's not bad, just not memorable and lacks any bite.

Pittura and Gore are my favorite songs so far. Loved Prayers/Triangles when it was released, but played it so much that I need a break.

Just the best band in the world. Incredible atmosphere, such an emotional album. Softer than its predecessor, but captivating and unique as always. Truly a one of a kind band. Favorites include Hearts/Prayers, Phantom Bride and Rubicon.

A Nice Guy
Probably not their finest album, but still a decent one, it's got a completely different style production, it's a lot more raw and edgier sounding, which I don't find a real issue with, but I'm not as satisfied with the distorted vocal style in places, his vocal performance is usually terrific, but I didn't find it as impressive this time.

Much like other releases, the songs are generally well structured, with soft ambient sections mixed with heavy riffs, decent bass lines, and decent drumming, but it's not as impressive nor as memorable as I've heard from the band previously.

"Acid Hologram", "Pittura Infamante", "Xenon" and "Phantom Bride" are probably the main stand outs for me, but there's no songs that really wow me.
