We go way back, Dani and I. When I first heard The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh in 1995, I was put off by the vocals, but I thought the music was too good to let the shrieking spaz spoil it for me. Once I heard Vempire the following year, I was hooked. Years later I was sad to see that after Midian Cradle Of Filth began to tumble into mediocrity. 2015's Hammer of the Witches was surprisingly good, but it had me wondering whether it was a one-off, or the band was really back in top-notch form. I'm very happy to report that the increase in quality seems to hold. Or even rise.

Last album was ... step in the right direction? Dare I say? COF needs to bring back the FILTH in Cradle of Filth. Plain and simple. They have a solid line up.

Two things about the album
1) The band members still remained unchanged which is quite surprising
2) As probably the result of the thing above(1) they produced incredibly great album.

9 is my mark and yeah it was leaked like nearly 2 month ago, which is good too.

Thought the album release was planned for Halloween as usual Need to check it out but the first songs we could enjoy didn't grab me. I also seems a very short album for CoF with only 8 songs + 2 bonuses ! I'm missing the craziness of Damnation And A Day with 17 songs !

It's a classic example of quality over quantity. Also, the 9 original songs are quite long, with only 2-3 below 7 minutes.

I've been a huge detractor of the band for a long while, but even I agree that it's a great release.

Wait, I'm confused, do these people actually think Alison Hell is an original Cradle of Filth song?

Praising a cover does not necessarily mean that you think it is an original song.

You're right, but the way they talked about it sure sounded like they thought it was an original song.

It can't be easy to recreate Jeff Waters' masterful riffing. They do a decent job on the cover.

From a technical standpoint, this is CoF's most impressive album ever. You Will Know The Lion By Its Claw is proof and it's probably my favourite song.

This is the highest rating i've given to a CoF album. I've never been a fan of Dani's vocals, but the music/riffs are very impressive and epic. They really outdid themselves this time!

As I keep reading the comment above there seems to be something wrong with me : I have been following Cradle since Dusk and Her Embrace and I love all of their albums including Thornography (Manticore is their weakest though). Yet I can hardly get into this album. Hammer Of The Witches took me some tuime to get used to and I still cannot call it a master piece (imo). I think the songs here are too long, too many changes also so that you're never quite sure you're still listening to the same track or have move forward onto the next one...

While not up to the standards of their older material, this is a great album from start to finish. I would give it 8.5/10.

I really like this album, but I guess I´m in the minority here since I've liked all their albums. Or at least a few songs on all of them, including Nymphetamine and Thornography, and I also kind of like Dani as a person, character or whatever he is... I have learned not see them live though. Festival, opening band, headliner, they´ve always managed to disappoint me no matter the setting.

Not only is it surprising that CoF are still active in the scene, but the fact they managed to surprise even the most outspoken haters of the band is quite impressive. I haven't factored in the time to give this a playthrough yet but based on the general consensus it's one that should find its way closer to the top of my to do list...

This album continues same atmosphere and direction as the previous album. It's good, not the great, but not the bad either, just good.
