Morten Veland and Einar Moen were best as a team it seems. Since morten left the band, neither musician's work has reached early-Tristania levels. And Vibeke Stene is simply the perfect vocalist for a project like this.

Ashes was pretty bold for them. Complete change of sound and song structure, but strong and inventive nonetheless. Everything after that, unfortunately, is pretty generic and uninventive.

Tristania used to be one of my favorite bands back in the early 2000s. Their first three albums re-defined gothic metal for me and I still listen to them every now and then today.
