Biography

DefRage is a (new age) post-grunge band from Estonia. The band was made in January 2007 by guitarist/rock producer Kari Kärner who invited a second guitarist Mikk Künnapas' in the band through an ad which he posted in metal.ee. Two weeks later, after they had collaboratively determined their plans, bassist Daniel Leppsoo joined the band, one week after him drummer Sten Õitspuu joined the band as well. At first the band acted without a soloist and without a name and they just practiced playing all together in different garages because practically everyone except Daniel it was the first time to play together in a band. In April 2007 the band went to a studio in Tallinn for the very first time where they played in some instrumentals for songs like -Broken Home" and -Till Death Do Us Part". In May band finally found the singer when Argo Ollep agreed to be the "frontman" of DefRage. In August Egon Kramp - sound technician and manager joined the band. On 17. October the band went to Tallinn to record their first recordings, under the lead of post-grunge producer Kari. After the recording of the instrumentals Kari, Argo and sound technician Egon went to Tallinn to record the vocals. Recording of the vocals lasted for a month, twice a week, sometimes three times a week. To the singer Argo Ollep it was a serious test, especially for his vocal chords. In January 2008, tour-manager Madis Lohu joined the band.

In December 2008 they had a bigger audience in Tallinn, where they were warm-up band for Whitesnake. The first tour had to be in July 2010 with 14 gigs, but it was cancelled due the leaving of the singer. Still, the other band members and driver Rain went to a 2-months promo event through Europe, where they visited all places they had to perform and reported about their problems. According to the statements of Kari Kärner they were invited in some radio stations in Georgia and France, aswell Polish MTV.
