Biography

When it was almost sure that IGNORABIMUS will split-up, Sorts and Uziel felt it was obvious that they will continue their journey making metal music together. It was quite clear for both of them that they want to continue expressing contents from their twisted minds in much darker, evil and extreme way. Death metal - the music they had always loved, a new challenge, a new musical path to wander. So there they were, at the dawn of the new band.

When the band was still an idea they both thought that Uziel should play guitar instead of bass he was playing in Ignorabimus (and is still playing in death metal band CATAFALC). Sorts was very pleased that Uziel started playing guitar because he has cool ideas and his own special way to make them happen with guitar. The chemistry between both guitars was very good in the beginning already.

They asked Tarmo to continue with them like he did in Ignorabimus. So he agreed to try and became the drummer. Funny how history repeats itself, the founding of Ignorabimus was exactly the same. The only difference was that Tarmo now had previous band experience.

As Uziel was now playing guitar they needed new bass player. Fortunately they didn't have to look far - a longtime friend Doomhand was in their minds. He had played bass in IRDHING. In May 2nd they made him an offer he couldn't resist. He was very excited to make some ugly sounds.

After few weeks of brain assault in May 9th Sorts and Uziel came up with band name Nihilist Crypt which changed into grammatically even more inaccurate NIHILISTIKRYPT. The name describes music and conception of the band. It is nihilistic, misanthropic and hateful lyrically, describing dark themes from deepest crypts of their mind, the things happening around and bothering them. Musically it's dark, unexpected and evil.

So this is basically how the band was put together. First rehearsal took place in July 10th in Guano rehearsal room. During November they put together their own rehearsal room with CATAFALC. In the end of December they decided to go to the studio in February 2005.

2005

In January 20th they offered Orc from ECTHALION to try some growling. Orc liked it very much and stayed. Uziel had now less to do with vocals and more to do with guitar. It was very progressive change.

By the first days of February it was clear that studio session will be delayed since the songs had been developing and had become more complicated. They started very intensive rehearsal period. Also after a long argument the demo was named to REQUIRED SACRIFICES (instead of Requested Sacrifices). Finally in March 24th began the long-awaited studio session which unexpectedly ended with the drummer Tarmo leaving the band.

But soon after search for new drummer they invited on April 4th young and talented drummer Port from band SPELLBINDER. On May 13th after another intensive rehearsal period the demo recording started all over again.

On May 16th was confirmed their debut live at HRC Laagri Promotuur in Tartu in Sõbra Maja with Must Missa, Human Ground, Tharaphita and Surrogoat. The gig took place on May 27th. Their next live was much more ambitious - at Conquer Festival 2005 Metal Days in Malbork in Poland during 8th-9th July, organized by Polish record company Conquer Records.

On July 19th Uziel and Sorts were quests in radio show METALLION. Also, for the first time the band sounded in radio, track "Rebellion Against Thee".

On September 2nd Nihilistikrypt had the opportunity to support the mighty ROTTING CHRIST from Greece at Nõmme Cult.

After the release of their first demo "Required Sacrifices" (Sep 9th) followed shorty a 3-gig promotional SEPTEMBER SACRIFICES TOUR through Estonia supported by various Estonian bands. The gigs took place in Valga, Tartu and Tallinn during 22nd-24th September. Overall the tour was successful.

With beginning of October started a period of making new material.
Also begun extensive promotion of Required Sacrifices to the magazines, labels and radios.
On November 11th t-shirts and longsleeves with theme of Required Sacrifices were ready to cover ones skin and bones.

On November 14th the first interview was taken by the Necromance webzine from Spain.

The top off of successful year came with HRC Year's-end Party live in Rockstars.

2006

During the whole January new material was written. In the end of January Nihilistikrypt parted ways with drummer Port. Unfortunately it didn't work out with Port due to his lack of time for Nihilistikrypt. Right away was found new drummer Ken from band SPITBLOOD. Man who lately celebrated his 19th birthday really demolishes on drums like a furious maniac. Since he had always wanted to play death metal, he fit right in.

On 24th February took place another photoshooting session, now with the new drummer.
Plans for a couple of next months are to practice on new material and to polish the old one too.

Nihilistikrypt performs at Hard Rock Laager 2006 - the heaviest open air festival in Estonia, so we had the opportunity to share the stage with names like Satyricon, Tiamat, Decapitated and many more. In July we also performed before Latvian metalheads for the first time.

STUKA Sound makes a proposal for co-operation. So in the end of July Nihilistikrypt hits the studio and records one song called "Manunkind" for a split 7" vinyl, the other band on the release being Catafalc.

In the beginning of October the band goes to Finland to record their very first official music video for song "Manunkind", also in co-operation with Stuka Sound.

2007

In March the founding member Sorts and Nihilistikrypt part ways mostly due to musical disagreements. Nihilistikrypt will not look for a new guitarist and continue as four-piece.

In April 2007 "Catakrypt" is finally released by Stuka Sound. During the rest of the year the band mostly composed new songs and polished the old ones to fit their new more aggressive and brutal style. Several live performances were given.

Near the end of 2007 they entered the studio to record a new demo. By the end of 2007 the recording process was complete. It was done in Zorg Sound Laboratories by Toomas "groZmot" Paidra.

2008

In January 26th, 2008 NIHILISTIKRYPT released their new 4-track demo "Perverse Dark Somnolence". The spreading of their music has begun to get the attention of music labels.
