Amaranthe - Biography

Amaranthe is a Swedish/Danish power/melodic death metal band that contains members from both Sweden and Denmark. Formed by Jake E. and Olof Mörck under the name Avalanche in 2008. The project took more shape when singers Elize Ryd and Andy Solveström signed on, as did drummer Morten Løwe Sørensen.

In 2009 the band was forced to change it's name due to legal issues regarding the original name and they chose Amaranthe. Also that same year the band hired Johan Andreassen as their bassist. The rest of 2009, and 2010, saw the band touring all over with many notable acts in the power metal and melodic death metal genres.

In April 2011 their debut album Amaranthe was released to worldwide acclaim, charting high in Sweden and Finland, and was the 84th most played album on Spotify in the whole world across all genres! In Spring of 2011 they did a full on European tour with Kamelot and Evergrey, and set their sights on the rest of the world!

The year 2012 has seen them take on a more touring and they are closing the year out in the studio preparing their next opus for a 2013 release...
