Biography

Led by the demonic vocal assault of frontwoman Ipek, Wykked Wytch is a female-fronted extreme metal band hailing from South Florida. The band blends a unique mixture of black, death, thrash metal with melody, technicality, and aggression to create their own signature sound which has gained them a strong cult following throughout the world.

Founded in the mid 90's, Ipek formed Wykked Wytch in Philadelphia. The band's first release (on her own label Cauldron Records) saw the light of day in September 1996. The album, Something Wykked This Way Comes, received critical acclaim throughout the US & the world. After its initial pressing, Demolition Records, a UK based metal label picked up the album for European distribution and re-issued the album with an extra two tracks.

In the fall of 1999, Ipek revamped Wykked Wytch with a new line-up and would start to write material for the band's second album Angelic Vengeance. The album Angelic Vengeance was recorded at Damage Studios in Ventimiglia, Italy with John Rae (of the UK band Pain Control) sessioning on drums. The album was produced by Kit Woolven (Cradle of Filth, Anathema) & mastered by Jim Morris (Cannibal Corpse,Death) at Morrisound Studios in Tampa, FL.

Angelic Vengeance was released in the fall of 2001 and Wykked Wytch would take their show on the road to support the album in Europe. The band landed the highly coveted support spot on the "Hell Comes To Your Town 2" European Tour with thrash legends: Kreator, Sodom, & Destruction.

After returning home from a successful European tour in 2002, Ipek and guitarist, Gio Geraca would begin collaborating on material for the third album 'Nefret'. In late 2002, Wykked Wytch cut demos at Audiohammer Studios in Orlando, FL with engineer Jason Suceof (Trivium, God Forbid) and session drums performed by Richard Christy (Death, Iced Earth, "The Howard Stern Show")

By early 2003, the writing for the third album was complete & the band went into the studio to begin recording the third full-length album 'Nefret'. The album was recorded at Studio 13 in Deerfield Beach, FL and was produced by Jeremy Staska (Marilyn Manson, Poison the Well) and the band. The album cover art for Nefret was once again handled by Chad Michael Ward (Soilwork,Darkane), who also designed the cover, for Wykked Wytch's previous album Angelic Vengeance. Soon after the completion of the album Wykked Wytch shot a video for the track The Soul Awaits.

After several delays the album Nefret was finally released in the Fall of 2004 through Demolition/Dreamcatcher Records. Wykked Wytch spent the first half of 2005 on the road in Europe as part of the extensive touring campaign for the album Nefret. The three month trek would have Wykked Wytch first teaming up with Carpathian Forest, Tsjuder, & E-force for six weeks. The band would then continue their touring of Europe by joining the No Mercy Fests with Six Feet Under, Nile, Dark Funeral, Disbelief, Dying Fetus, & Cataract.

On returning home from Europe, Wykked Wytch would start to write material for their fourth-album. In August 2005, the band entered Red Room Recorders in Tampa, FL with engineer Mark Prator (Deicide, Obituary) to record demos for the fourth-album. Wykked Wytch finished out 2005 by supporting Deicide on a month long tour of Europe and were joined by drummer John Rae who performed the drums on Wykked Wytch's second album "Angelic Vengeance".

In the beginning of 2006, Wykked Wytch signed with UK based label SixSixSix Records, owned by Cradle of Filth bassist Dave Pybus. This would be a short lived union and Wykked Wytch soon part ways with the label. The band would go on to self-finance their fourth album "Memories of A Dying Whore" and begin recording at Redroom Recorders in Tampa, FL with Mark Prator engineering. Before the completion of the album Wykked Wytch would join Hanzel und Gretyl & Bella Morte for a short US tour "Oktotenfest" in the fall of 2006.

In 2007 Wykked Wytch completed the album "Memories Of A Dying Whore". The album was mixed by Eric Rachel at Trax East Studios in NJ and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Studios in NY.

After much delay "Memories Of A Dying Whore" was released upon the masses at the beginning of 2008 through Perish Music Group. Since its release the album has been receiving worldwide praise from the metal community.
