Biography

The grim story of Blackened Heavy Metal band Faethom begins in early 2009 in hellish Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Co-founders David Diacrono and Mariela Muerte, both originally from the ghoul-infested town of Cochabamba, Bolivia, joined their dark talents to mix that which they most worship: Horror and Metal. Initially, and for a very short period, the band was known as Fathom, but David and Mariela decided to change the name to FAETHOM (old English spelling of the word) to stand out from other bands with the same name. Terror tales written by Mariela became songs and throughout most of 2009 the band focused on recording their first EP. Also during 2009, they added to the lineup Argentinian bassist, Federico Vidal, and drummer, Thomas Wittig, for the live experience and they began playing shows locally.

Near the end of 2009, their EP titled "Lullaby for Heathen Spawn" was released, composed and recorded by David and Mariela. Faethom played many shows in the South Florida area and quickly gained local appeal. Due to personal reasons, In mid-2010,Thomas parted ways with the band but was immediately replaced by Colombian drummer, Hermes Daniel Reyes.

In November of 2011, Faethom released a full-length concept album entitled "In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Unholy," composed and recorded by David and Mariela. Also, at the end of 2011 they added Chilean guitarist, Fabian Lopez ,to the lineup.

In July of 2012, Faethom released a music video for the song "The Letter."

Unfortunately, in January of 2013 the band amicably parted ways with Federico and a few months later, in May, Fabian left the band due to personal reasons.

In the Summer of 2013, the band, composed of David, Hermes, and Mariela, recorded an EP entitled "Mark of the Devil" with David handling guitars, charango, bass, Mariela handling vocals and keyboards, and Hermes handling drums. The EP was released in October of 2013.

By the end of September and into the beginning of October, bassist Matt Winters and guitarist Ken Hayward joined the band. In early 2014, the band parted ways with Matthew and Ken took over on bass. This would mark the current lineup of Faethom: Mariela on vocals and keyboards, David on guitars, Hermes on drums, and Ken on bass.

In November of 2014, the band released a video for "Thou Shall Follow," directed and edited by Dan Jackson, and in honor of the 3-anniversary of the release of their debut album - In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Unholy. They also released a re-recording of "Thou Shall Follow" with the new lineup. This single is available as a free download.

The band released their 2nd full-length album in 2016, Fury of the Scorned Witch. Their third full-length album "CHAOSMORPHOGORIA" is scheduled to be released in October of 2023.
