The song "Thunder and Rain Pt. 2", from the album "Word Of Mouth" is dedicated to the memory of Criss Oliva.
The thrash metal band Overkill wrote a song named "R.I.P. (Undone)" on their 1994 album "W.F.O." that pays tribute to Criss Oliva.
Jon Oliva remained involved with Savatage for the period he was "out" of the band by writing music and lyrics, playing keyboards and providing some vocals.
The band name was Avatar (and on occasion, Metropolis) before changing to Savatage late in 1983.
