Another wonderful edition of the Metal Female Voices Festival, this year celebrating its tenth anniversary.
Organization and sound were excellent, as was the line-up. The hall was pretty well filled even for the acoustical set on Friday, when 15 female metal vocalists from all over the world pulled off a sentimental one-hour show. Some tears were shed when Lisa Middelhauve mourned the death of her first love and on Sunday , when Amanda Somerville commemorated their keyboard player Simon Oberender.
My favourite band during the two regular days of the show where Arkona, who played a beautiful and very energetic gig.
Else I was impressed by the terrific performance of Amanda Somerville's Trillium. I wasn't aware just how good she is. Else I enjoyed the soprano opera bombast of Crysalis.
Meden Agan were an interesting new band for me, but I was a little bit put off by the singer's obtrusive request for more response from the audience. Chamber69's heavy rock was great and the few of Amberian Dawn's blockbuster hits also touched me again.
As a whole the line-up of bands was for my personal taste leaning slightly too much on the progressive side of things
All bands delivered great performances and I adore their skills and level of professionalism. |
