Singer Jill Janus of the Los Angeles traditional heavy metal band Huntress has revealed to Revolver magazine that she was recently diagnosed with uterine cancer. Janus is now cancer-free due to a hysterectomy performed two weeks ago. She is recovering from a successful surgery at home. In the same interview, she also opened up about her lifelong battle with mental illness.

Bad news alert! The progressive metallers The Safety Fire have disbanded. Back in April 1st, the band posted on Facebook that they had broken up and nobody believed them because it was April Fools' Day. As it turns out, the band has really disbanded. They leave behind two albums, 2012's Grind The Ocean and 2013's Mouth Of Swords and now bid farewell.

Happy Tenth Anniversary to Solitude Productions. They've put out 200 albums and a lot of good doom. They've also helped sibling label, BadMoodMan, put out a lot of great tunes as well. I ought to know, as I reviewed about 70 of their releases over the last few years and with a good chunk of them the review process was time well spent.
