Joe Satriani - Streaming New Album Track

Guitar hero Joe Satriani has a new album in store for us, called Shockwave Supernova. While it is only being released on July 24th, you can already hear the album's title track. While recording the album late in 2014 at Skywalker Sound in Lucas Valley, California, Satriani assembled a top-notch trio ? keyboardist and guitarist Mike Keneally, drummer Marco Minnemann and bassist Bryan Beller. Pentagram - Another New Song Streaming Online

Legendary U.S. doom metal band Pentagram will release their new studio album, Curious Volume, on August 28th via Peaceville Records. So far, the band has released the song "Misunderstood" before as a first appetizer. But now there is more to be enjoyed. Borknagar - New Album Finished

Bassist/vocalist ICS Vortex and Borknagar have confirmed that Borknagar's new album is finally completed. This will be good news for the fans of the band who have been waiting for the follow-up to Urd (2012) for a while now. The master "tape" of their new album was officially delivered to their label Century Media Records. According to guitarist Øystein Garnes Brun, the album will contain 8 songs for the standard version and a limited version of the album will have an extra song.

Coal Chamber - Premiere Video For 'Rivals'

Hatriot - Steve Souza Stepping Down As Vocalist

Maybe it was predictable after Hatriot's vocalist Steve "Zetro" Souza returned to Exodus but he is stepping down as the singer in the band. While initially it was agreed that he would perform in both bands full time, that is not possible anymore. Bassist Cody Souza is taking over vocal duties in Hatriot. Steve "Zetro" Souza is not leaving the band though and will assist in running operations, writing lyrics, and overseeing the band.

Solitude Productions 10th Anniversary - And Doom Giveaway Contest!

Only July 16th, our droogs at Solitude Productions will be celebrating their 10th Anniversary. 3,650 days and plenty of doom albums later they want to share their wealth with you, oh discerning doomster.

We've paired with them to celebrate.

On turning 10, quoth Solitude Productions, "During this time we've made over 200 releases! We decided to make a competition for our friends and doom-metal lovers. It's an opportunity to win three CDs, produced especially for the celebration date: two new releases in digipack and exclusive compilation with previously unreleased on CD tracks from bands signed to the label."

SO here is what is going to happen. Below there are snippets of 5 album covers released by Solitude Productions. First five people to chime in (message) to BitterCOld with each album correctly named will be judged to be almost as DoomCool as Marcel, and will thus receive the prize. Post answers on the thread below, well, you lose and will be nuked.

Winners to be announced on July 16.

We will add clues in a couple days if you lot can't sort this out.

Dream Death - Recording New Album

Dream Death are holed up in the studio producing what will become their next full length album. After releasing their latest album, Somnium Excessum, back in 2013, the thrash/death/doom metallers will be in the Mr. Smalls Studio in Pittsburgh through the 16th of July and then again back at it the week of the 20th and finishing up with mixing in the middle of August 2015.

Enabler - Frontman Accused Of Abuse (Update)

UPDATE: Enabler's Jeffery "Jeff" Lohrber has responded to the abuse accusations of former bassist Amanda Daniels by releasing a statement on the band's Facebook page. It was posted there but the Facebook page has since then apparently been deactivated. For now, Enabler are on a indefinite hiatus.

Children Of Bodom - To Tour Europe With Lamb Of God, Megadeth, Sylosis

Children Of Bodom are releasing a new album soon, I Worship Chaos. So, naturally new tours are being booked to promote the record. Today, the Finnish metallers announced a string of dates for Europe. Children Of Bodom will join forces with groove metallers Lamb Of God, who will present their new record VII: Sturm Und Drang as well and tour Europe this fall. Opening support will come courtesy of British metallers Sylosis. For a few dates in the UK and Ireland, this touring package will team up with mighty Megadeth as well.

Ritchie Blackmore - In Legal Battle Over Deep Purple Royalties

The Daily Mail is reporting that former Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore has sued two management companies, HEC Enterprises and Deep Purple (Overseas), claiming that he got underpaid in recent years for co-writing such songs as "Smoke On The Water", "Black Night" and "Highway Star" and that he is owed £750,000.

Atheist - 'Unquestionable Presence' To Be Reissued, Share Rare Live Clip

Remember a little landmark album called Unquestionable Presence? If you are familiar with Atheist, you should. As of now, you can check out rare footage of the last-ever live performance of the classic Atheist line-up, and the last show bassist Roger Patterson ever played. It was filmed at The Waters Club in San Pedro, CA on the Candlemass/Atheist U.S. tour in February 1991. This footage is included on the DVD portion of the newly-announced CD/DVD deluxe reissue of Atheist's classic album Unquestionable Presence, coming July 24th via Season Of Mist.
