Obituary - Ralph Santolla To Help On New Album

OBITUARY frontman John Tardy has posted the following message on the group's official web site:

"There is so much going on! The most important thing is the recording/mixing of the new CD and that is going amazing! These new songs are so heavy and we are happy and lucky to announce that Ralph Santolla (ex-Iced Earth, Deicide, Death) is helping us with some of the guitar work. To have someone like Ralph working with us is totally new to OBITUARY and I can't tell you how excited we are. This new album, 'Xecutioner's Return', is just coming to life!

"I know there has been a lot of speculation about what we were going to do for another guitarist now that Allen West is unavailable. It is kind of strange how things work out. We have known Ralph for a long time and it is no suprise how good of a guitar player he is, but what was really nice is how good we work with each other and how good we get along. Not only is Ralph recording with us, but he will also be going with us to Europe in July and on our U.S. tour in September.

"We leave for South America tomorrow for the next set of shows and they should be some good ones. We have been to Argentina (a long time ago), but we have never been to Chile or Brazil, so we are looking forward to these shows. When we get home we will finish up the mixing of the new CD and we are on schedule for a late August release!"

Obituary's "Xecutioner's Return" is scheduled for release on August 28 via Candlelight Records. The band is working with artist Andreas Marshall for the cover art for "Xecutioner's Return". Marshall has worked with the band for "The End Complete" and their most recent record "Frozen in Time".

Obituary - Studio Update And News About Missing Guitarist

The following tour/studio update was issued on the website of legendary US Death Metal band Obituary:

"We had 4 great shows in Mexico with Sadus and really want to thank all our fans for coming out and supporting us and our crew guys for their hard work! This trip took us through 4 cities and saw the reunion S.O.S. show - Sepultura - Obituary- Sadus! What a blast!!!

4 shows in 4 cities in 4 days was not exactly easy, but it was a lot of fun!

The good news! The studio has been going great and all the music is just about done being tracked. This is some really heavy material and I can't wait to get this released! When we get back from Australia we will start the final mix with Mark Prator at RedRoom Recorders!

The bad news! Anyone that keeps up with this website or our message board knows we usually keep you up to date with what is going on. We have been usually quite about Allen and his absence from these last set of shows. Well, Allen has gotten himself into trouble again and we have been waiting for him to make a statement himself:

"To my friends and fans,
I have gotten into trouble that can only be resolved by my incarceration. I will do this with thoughts of all of you. Soon I will be free again and come back stronger and better. My release is scheduled for February 2008. I will not let this problem kill my spirit and will use it to sharpen my creativity. Hope to see all of you next year. Allen West"

This sucks and there is not much we can do about it but, we will continue to move on and do what Obituary does! We have a lot planned for this new album with Candlelight and look forward to the September release of our new CD! Tomorrow we are off to Australia for our first trip down under and we can't wait to have a few cool ones with our Australian fans!!!!!

After Australia we head to South America for 5 shows! Click HERE for the full Tour Schedule."

Obituary - Sign To Candlelight Records

The following press release has been issued today (Monday 23/04) through the official Candlelight Records' website:

"Candlelight Records today proudly confirms September 11th as the US and September 10th as the Euro release date for the forthcoming album from Death Metal legends Obituary. Recording of the currently untitled album is already underway with the album's completion expected for June 1.

Tampa-based Obituary featuring vocalist John Tardy, guitarist Trevor Peres, bassist Frank Watkins and drummer Donald Tardy are one of the genre's most respected and successful bands. Formed in 1985, the quartet have released six critically-acclaimed albums that have to date sold nearly one million copies in the United States.

Regarding the new cooperation Frank Watkins says, "we are very excited to be part of Candlelight Records. This will mark a new chapter in Death Metal history." John Tardy says, ""we are really looking forward to having a record company that wants to work with us. We feel rejuvenated and this new album is gonna be sick!" Donald Tardy adds, ""we couldn't be more pumped about teaming up with Candlelight. It is an unbelievable feeling to know that a record company cares about our music as much as we do."

A full US headline tour is set to kick off the week of the album's release; details to follow."

Obituary - To Record New Album

Obituary frontman John Tardy has posted the following message on the band's official website:

"All is going well with the new DVD and we really appreciate all the support! 'Frozen Alive' has sparked a bunch of new shows that we have set up! Here they all are and we are really looking forward to all of them. Some of the newer shows are in France, Mexico with Sadus and believe it or not we are finally going to make it to Australia! We have had offers in the past, but they just never worked out. This will be our first time in Australia, so for all of you that have emailed over the years about coming there, we finally will have a chance to meet! We also have some South American dates we are working on and as soon as I find out for sure I will let you know.

"We are still working on the new CD and are getting really excited about these new songs. This is some pretty sick shit! I still do not know what we are going to do about a record label. We are still talking with a few labels and trying to work something out! Hopefully something gets done soon, so we can move forward and concentrate on future events! We still plan on starting to record in March!!!"

Obituary - To Record Their First Ever DVD In Poland

The following message has been posted by frontman John Tardy at thhe legenadry Death Metal band's official website:

"Where do I start! First, thanks to our crew and all our fans that came out to support us this festival season. Without you guys all this would not be possible!!!".

"I did not have Internet for the last few shows, so I could not update the website until now. I think the last I updated was in Italy. Since then we had two shows in Germany and one in Austria!".

"I am at home and trying to get things 'back to normal.' Yesterday we got together with friends and celebrated the 4th of July with some grilling, cool ones, fireworks and World Cup football! What an end to that Germany / Italy game. Our crew were from Germany, so I felt bad for them, but congratulate Italy on a big win. I am looking forward to the game today, it should be a good one. It was also great to see the Space Shuttle Discovery go up! I don't know if there is any better display of fireworks then watching that thing launch! Awesome! We are a few hundred miles from the Space Center, but can still see the shuttle from my house. It is really something and I congratulate NASA on a beautiful launch".

"We are home until the end of August , then we head back to Europe to record our first DVD, in Poland! I think we could be the last band on the planet to do one, so we are really excited about this. While we are there we will also be playing the Up From The Ground Festival in Germany".

Obituary - Guitarist Allan West Quits Band

Guitarist Allen West has announced his departure from Obituary West's exit from the group comes on the eve of Obituary's U.S. tour with Napalm Death and Allen feels that the fans deserve no surprises when they don't see the band that they were expecting. Allen will concentrate fully on Lowbrow, whose revamped lineup consists of founding members West, Curtis Beeson (Nasty savage) and Richard Hornberger, along with new bassist Jon Fronza. Lowbrow will continue without former members Ben Meyer (Nasty Savage, Acheron) and Richard Bateman (Agent Steel, Nasty Savage).

LOWBROW are currently preparing material for a new recording to follow 2001's "Sex. Violence.Death". More information will be made available soon.

Although Obituary have yet to comment on West's departure, singer John Tardy posted the following message on the band's official message board in response to a fan who complained about West being too "wasted" during the group's appearance at the Hole In The Sky festival in Norway this past weekend (August 28th).

"First, I would like to apologize for Allen and that is all I can do. We (Obituary) did what we could and just could not control Allen that day...he was a mess! You were at the show and could see that we tried our best and Allen was just too drunk to play a good show. You hear stories like this all the time (with all bands) and just like me you have to wonder why someone just can't be professional with what they are doing! We have all the time in the world to party as much as we want after the show and you would think you could show up ready to play and give your fans 100%! In this case Allen failed us! We are not happy and have talked with him about this and I am not sure what we are going to do! He has to make up his mind as to what he wants to do! Once again I can only apologize and and tell you that where the rest of the band gives it 100% everyshow no matter what and one weak link (Allen) can bring all that down! I also realize that his perfomance is a reflection on the whole band and that is what hurts the most when I look at how hard the rest of the band works to be the very best that we can! We can only hope that Allen gets his priorities straight!"
