Nearly three months after the passing of original L.A. Guns drummer Steve Riley, it has been announced that The Dark Horse, the long-awaited second album from Steve Riley's L.A. Guns, will be released on January 22nd (which would have been Riley's 68th birthday) through Golden Robot Records.

Mercyful Fate - Part Ways With Bassist Joey Vera
Danish heavy metal veterans Mercyful Fate just announced via Facebook that they have "mutually decided to split ways" with bassist Joey Vera. While a replacement for Vera has yet to be announced, the band have reportedly been working on new material for their first studio album since 1999's 9 for a later release in 2024.

Rage Against The Machine - Reunion Is Over
Nearly two years after wrapping up the North American 'Public Service Announcement Tour' and cancelling a European trek, as frontman Zack de la Rocha had severed his left Achilles tendon, Rage Against The Machine drummer Brad Wilk confirmed that the band's reunion is over, clarifying they have no plans for any more live shows or tours. This is the third time in a row that Rage Against The Machine have broken up or gone on an indefinite hiatus.

Overkill - To Embark On Tour Over Latin America
After announcing tentative plans to release another album in 2025, thrash metal legends Overkill have unveiled a string of April 2024 shows in Latin America, where they will be playing a series of festivals. The trek will see Overkill continuing to promote their latest album Scorched, which was released in April of last year.

Scatterbrain - Reveal Previously Unreleased Song
Former Scatterbrain guitarist Glenn Cummings has shared a previously unreleased song, called "Crazy Joe", which was recorded as a demo back in 1992 for what would have been the follow-up to the previous year's Scamboogery, with Hot Garbage as its working title. Due to label politics, however, that record would never see the light of day.

Megadeth - Dave Mustaine Reveals Future Plans
Megadeth vocalist and guitarist Dave Mustaine was recently interviewed by The SDR Show about the band's plans for the next couple of years, one of which includes at least three more studio albums, with the first to be released around 2025. The announcement of the follow-up to last year's The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead! comes more than a month after guitarist Kiko Loureiro left Megadeth, with Teemu Mäntysaari (Wintersun, Smackbound) filling in for him on the band's current activities.

Leeway - Former Guitarist Michael Gibbons Dies
Former Leeway guitarist Michael Gibbons died last Wednesday (December 27th) from an undisclosed cause of death; the news of Gibbons' passing was broke through social media by his brother Joe. Michael joined Leeway in 1986 and performed on their first two albums, 1989's Born To Expire and 1991's Desperate Measures, before parting ways with the band in 1992 and he would be part of their short-lived reunion from 2006.

Guns' most recent studio album Black Diamonds was released only eight-and-a-half months ago, but guitarist Tracii Guns has confirmed that another album is in the works and set to be released in 2024. Crimson Glory - Announce Reunion, New Music Available
Progressive metal pioneers Crimson Glory recently announced that they have reunited with a new line-up, with members Ben Jackson (guitar), Jeff Lords (bass) and Dana Burnell (drums), joined by new singer Travis Wills (Infidel Rising) and guitarist Mark "Borgy" Borgmeyer (The Lost Boys). The band had not been active since frontman Todd La Torre, who is now in Queensrÿche, left the band over a decade ago.
