Killing Joke - Paul Raven Dead At 46

Influential bassist Paul Raven passed away on the 20th of October. A message posted on the MySpace page of his latest project Mob Research states:

"Mob Research founder and bassist Paul Raven passed away today Saturday 20th October, apparently from a heart attack. The cause of the attack is currently unknown. He had just arrived in Europe to commence recording with his friends Treponem Pal.

Raven was the charismatic bass player for Killing Joke for many years, also Prong and most recently Ministry and Mob Research. He was a great friend to many and a legendary bass player. We shall all miss Paul incredibly. When we have more information on his untimely passing and cause of death we will let you know. We are still in a state of shock. We understand the funeral services will be held in England. Any messages of condolence are welcomed.

We love and miss you man... "

Ministry - Ex-Member Paul Barker Sued By Al Jourgensen

Information regarding Ministry's Al Jourgensen suing his ex-bandmate Paul Barker has recently been circulating the Internet. According to the official Los Angeles Superior Court website, case number SC094122, a case for tortious interference regarding contractual agreement has been filed by Al Jourgensen against Paul Barker and Spurburn music. Although documented in legal archives, this case has not yet been publicly confirmed by either side.

Paul Barker left Ministry in 2003, following the release of the album Animositisomina, citing musical differences and personal problems as the reason for this decision. The split seemed amiable and only now is evidence pointing to the contrary beginning to emerge. Since leaving Ministry, Barker has recorded an album as Pink Anvil and joined the band USSA.

More information about the case can be found under the address:

Static-X - New Album Info And Audio Streams Available

Static-X is breaking out of Hell's sub-basement to release their fifth studio album, Cannibal, on April 3rd. The band will also kick off a headlining tour on March 30th in Santa Ana, CA. Comprising 12 of the harshest, most stripped-down tracks Static-X have ever recorded, Cannibal also finds frontman Wayne Static & Co. sounding leaner and meaner than they have in years?a change the vertical-haired guitarist, vocalist and chief songwriter attributes to the back-to-basics approach they took to recording the album. "I think it's the most metal record we've ever made, and it's arguably the heaviest record we've ever made," Static explains. "But with this record, I had a good time just getting back to balls-out screaming and challenging myself vocally, as well as in the songwriting. I felt like I was back working on Wisconsin Death Trip, where I focused on stripping away the excess as much as possible to write short, simple, catchy songs."

Static-X's face-ripping, "No Submission" gave fans their first taste of Cannibal when it landed on the soundtrack for Saw III. The band has since released the title track "Cannibal" and "Destroyer" to iTunes for download. Cannibal marks the first time in the band's history that they have released back to back albums with the same line up. Static remarks, "Even though we've got three-quarters of the original lineup today, we've been through a lot of changes to get back to this point." One other major change for the band was teaming up with a new producer, John Travis (Kid Rock, Buckcherry). This change took the band out of their comfort zone to create an album that make Wisconsin Death Trip sound like pop singles in comparison.

Jungle Records - To Release Another "Fake" Fields Of The Nephilim Album

A recently posted news item on the official site of the Fields Of The Nephilim states that Jungle is about to release another, after "Fallen", fake FOTN album called "Genesis And Revelation"

"Some of you may be aware of the insidious release of a new 'box set'
of Fields of the Nephilim works entitled Genesis and Revelation.
Camden-based record company Jungle Records are yet again attempting to
deceive our famously loyal followers into parting with their cash.

Please be aware that this 'product', which claims to include previously unreleased
audio tracks and audio-visual live footage from the band, is no more than a shoddy concoction of
generally low quality recordings and bootlegs, much of which have been freely available on the Internet for years.
The release contains no new or official material, and is
not sanctioned, sponsored or condoned in any way by Fields of the Nephilim.

Please note also that Fields of the Nephilim benefit nothing from the release of this material,
and we urge all fans to boycott this and any other products issued by them without recourse to the band.
As previously stated these releases in no way reflect the incredibly high standards
that the band has always insisted upon since its inception."

The same news item contains some more positive information -

"On a more speculative note, the buzz in the Watchman camp is that recently
Carl McCoy has been in intensive discussions with original members Paul and Nod Wright.
Although the reasons for these meetings are yet to be disclosed,
the rumour is that a further more positive announcement will be made in the near future."

A Ministry Update

A recent interview with Ministry's frontman Al Jourgensen revealed a lot of important information about the band's future. Ministry wants to get rid of Bush so much on the next election that a special booth will be present on all of their US concerts which will be used to register voters agains Bush. Jourgensen himself is going to appear in this booth for two hours before every concert and do whatever is neccessary to convince young people to take part in the upcoming election (only 30% of the 18-29 demographic took part in the previous election).

Ministry is also planning a worldwide tour in support of their upcoming album, Houses Of The Mole, scheduled for a June 22 release. Supposedly, this might be a co-headlining tour with Nine Inch Nails, also scheduled to release a new album in the near future.

A video for the first single off the new Ministry album, "No W" is going to be shot in the first week of June and is supposed to put Jourgensen on the first place of the White House hate list.

In related news, Jourgensen and other members of the legendary industrial parody band Revolting Cocks are in the studio at the moment and recording material for an album to be released in August.
