Stone - Announce Anthology Release And Tour

Finnish thrash metal legends Stone are releasing an anthology Stone: The Complete coming February. It will be comprised of everything the band has ever released: albums, singles, DVD-s, bonus CDs with demos and even 9 previously unreleased tracks. To celebrate this release, Stone are embarking on their first official tour since 1992.

While Stone have been officially disbanded since early 90's, the interest for the band hasn't waned. Partly because the band have made occasional club and festival appearances here and there but also because Stone's musicians have been present in the metal scene. Roope Latvala has been playing with Waltari and Sinergy, as well as Children Of Bodom, and Pekka Kasari was with Amorphis and Demolisher.

Stone are considered to be influential in Finland and their neighbouring countries. For example, many Finnish musicians (Alexi Laiho among others) have quoted Roope Latvala as their guitar idol. It is also said that in the late 80's the first ever metal gigs in Estonia (back then still part of the Soviet Union) were given by Stone, and thus have shaped the Estonian thrash and later death metal scene in the early 90's. Local metal musicians hold band in high regard for those early influences. Stone were the closest available alternative to the thrash giants like Metallica, Anthrax and Slayer.

So far 5 cities have been announced as part of the coming tour, one in Estonia and four in Finland.

Tour dates:

27.02.2013 - Estonia, Tallinn, Rock Café (doors 19:00)
01.03.2013 - Finland, Tampere, Pakkahuone (doors 20:00)

Wow, I had no clue that Roope Latvala was such a huge figure in the metal scene over there and even Laiho considers Latvala to be his guitar idol It'd be awesome if they toured more.

I'm looking forward to this. I've been trying to get my hands on Stone's albums for years but can never seem to find them anywhere, even online stores don't seem to carry them.

@Vali, even though I don't care for the music of CoB anymore since Alexander left (I never felt Alexi used Roope to the best he could in CoB and I'm very sad that they aren't doing Sinergy anymore). I did always think it was very awesome however that Alexi gets to play alongside his childhood idol in his band.
