Dan Swanö - New Song Streaming Online

It was with excitement that last month fans received the news that Swedish multi-instrumentalist and producer Dan Swanö had signed a deal with Century Media and was preparing the release of the debut album from his new project Witherscape. Today we finally get to hear what it will sound like through the song "Astrid Falls". The music is described as "atmospheric and progressive dark metal".

The outfit is formed by Dan Swanö together with fellow Swedish multi-instrumentalist Ragnar Widerberg. Witherscape's debut album The Inheritance drops on July 29th, 2013 in Europe and August 6th, 2013 in North America via Century Media Records.

Dan Swanö commented on the song as follows: "'Astrid Falls' is one of my many favourite songs on the album. It represents the Witherscape sound in a good way. It's showcasing the clean and growling vocal interplay and the overall 'vibe' of my and Ragnar's playing as well as the dynamics of our songwriting."

Widerberg quotes acts like early Judas Priest, Rush, King Crimson or Mercyful Fate as his inspirations in regards to Witherscape and Swanö elaborates his list to also include Judas Priest (1975-1989), Voivod, Queensrÿche, Rush, Marillion and Mercyful Fate.

Clean vocals are sounding tired; but otherwise the song is good. That other guy needs to lose that dumb hipster stache.

Even though it is not as heavy as most of his work, it is very good. I can hear the Swanö vibe ooze out of every note. It feels great knowing that good old Dan is still active! Waiting for more of this

Yeah it's pretty cool. Clean vocals are feeling the same but also a bit tired like mentioned above.

Agree 100%. It lacks something memorable.

Very cool, Edge of Sanity style riffing returns devoid of Synth-Pop (which wasn't really a bad thing, but this is nice)
