Keith Merrow And Jeff Loomis - Crowdfunding Debut Album

At the beginning of the year, Keith Merrow and Jeff Loomis announced that they would record an album together. Now they have launched a special Indiegogo campaign to help get things going with their new project Conquering Dystopia. Jeff Loomis and Keith Merrow teamed up to write the project's debut album together, and Alex Webster (Cannibal Corpse) will be on bass guitar, and Alex Rudinger (The Faceless) will be on drums.

They have already exceeded their funding goal of $15,000 for the project in under 24 hours but there are still some contribution packages available over here.

Conquering Dystopia is:

Keith Merrow - Guitars
Jeff Loomis - Guitars
Alex Webster - Bass
Alex Rudinger - Drums

Maybe I don't really know how expensive the whole process is, but aren't these guys (aside from maybe Keith) successful enough to fund an album themselves?

What's wrong with crowd funding? I don't recall seeing a handbook for producing music that says it's illegal or improper to ask your fans to donate money to you in exchange for cool stuff so that you could record an album. It's not like these 2 are contracted by a major record label with an unlimited budget. I'd rather them do crowd funding and put out a record than to just throw their arms in the air and give up on writing music and get regular day jobs because they aren't fortunate/wealthy enough to be able to afford to record and release an album for their fans.

I'm looking forward to this album! The little snippets they revealed in the video sounded pretty bitchin'.
