Sonata Arctica - Unleash New Single

Power metallers Sonata Arctica are all set to put out their upcoming full length, Talviyö, on September 6th. After revealing first single "A Little Less Understanding" in June, the group now present their second single and video clip for "Cold". It was filmed in Tampere with Patric Ullaeus.

"It's been a while since we released the first single " A Little Less Understanding" from our upcoming album Talviyö, and now it's time to reveal the next piece in the puzzle. This single "Cold" is also our first music video from the album, with more to follow later on. We filmed the video in Tampere with the amazing Patric Ullaeus, and we had a blast once again. Just 2 more weeks until the whole album is out, meanwhile enjoy this treat. Cheers!", comments Henrik "Henkka" Klingenberg.

This sounds absolutely nothing like Nickelback.

I don't understand metalheads sometimes. All the elements that formed the earlier Sonata songs are in this track as well, even more so than in the last four albums combined, it's just more mature (some may say, "watered down"?) and is more than just your typical and generic Power Metal. It's been over a decade since Tony himself said they won't do Power Metal anymore, and you are still bashing this band. Seriously, what did you expect? Ecliptica part 2? come on, we all know how that would sound, and I rather have Talviyö instead.

Good description. Like the last single, one to sing in the shower. BUT this is now pop music, good pop music, no longer metal really. If it is memorable, does it matter what label we put on it though?

To answer @Kais, yes I do want Ecliptica pt2. It will not happen, but I still want it. I think most of us do deep down.

Activists always want the opposite. But if you give it to them they no longer want it.

Uhh... no, but wouldn't it be great?
This band needs Jani Liimatainen's songwriting almost as much as Jani needs Tony's voice in any of his projects.

i totally agree with you! people still keep on chasing the past ...despite that the band chose to go in a different direction. Its better to be true to yourself and write music you actually want than to repeat the first albums just so the fans would not complain. I mean, c'mon keep it spicy and throw in there new elements from time to time.
