Icelanders Fortíð are pleased to welcome Kári Pálsson (Nexion) as their new permanent bassist in the ranks. Statement from the band's frontman Einar Thorberg Guðmundsson as well as Kári can be read below.

The band's mainman Einar Thorberg Guðmundsson comments: "We are very pleased to announce a new bass player of Fortíð, Kári Pálsson. I (Einar) have known him for over a decade by now. We are a couple of nerds who have been discussing sagas, runes, and music as well as playing chess through the years. Kári also plays bass in the band Nexion which Kristján recently joined on drums, so the two of them have already gotten musically synchronized. We couldn't think of a better choice."

Here's a statement from Kári himself: "I feel very honoured to be a new member of Fortíð - a band of which I have been a great fan for 16 years by now. When my good friend Ragnar Sverrisson (who also drummed in Fall Of The Ages album) showed me back in the days the song "Dauði Ýmis" (Ýmir's death) from Fortíð's debut, I immediately felt great interest for the songs and the themes. The atmosphere of the albums have always felt attractive to me, and the Völuspá albums fueled my interest in folklore and Old Norse religion studies, a field in which I am achieving more expertise through a MA. Being able to work on, and rehearse new songs for the upcoming album feels to me like a dream coming true, and I am surely looking forward to fulfill bass duties in the band!"
