Cromlech - Disband

Heavy/doom metal flag bearers Cromlech have sadly announced the amicable departure of founding member, David Baron. The four remaining members have decided to put the band to rest, after only a few months of their latest album release, Ascent Of Kings. However, they will continue without Baron through another project, which is yet to be revealed. You can read the full statement below.

Band Statement:

"Iron sharpeneth iron, so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend." - Proverbs 27:17

So said our brother to us ages ago. 12 years of brotherhood, a third of our lives spent together, whether in the studio rehearsing and recording, in drunken carousing, hikes in the forest, brawls, and on the stage as far away as Rochester and Malta; always getting ourselves into trouble, shedding blood together, always being a fist in the face of the false. Today however, a chapter of that tale has come to an end.

Founding member and eternal comrade in arms David Baron has come to part ways with Cromlech and to forge ahead (as always) in his own path in life. The split is amicable, and we wish him nothing but fortune and glory in his further endeavors. He remains (always will remain) our brother. We cannot but be indebted to him for everything that has transpired by his founding of the band and the time we spent together within it.

It's an understatement to say that none of us would be the men we are today without the last almost decade and a half of riffing arrogance, that we were formed by Cromlech as much as we formed it, and in particular by our battle brother Baron. The material we released will remain a testament throughout time to the spirit of war and struggle in man, of hope in tragedy and victory in defeat. That being said, the founder having left we can no longer continue under this name. "Cromlech" is now truly a fitting epitaph to the project, as it remains now only as a monument to what once was.

However, the rest of us are continuing the battle. The remaining four members have regrouped and formed a new project yet to be announced that will continue the legacy and struggle of Cromlech. We will continue where Ascent of Kings left off and forge ahead boldly into this dark age of weakness we find ourselves in, always holding fast to the spirit and virtues that we strive to exemplify in song. Stay attentive brethren, and onwards in countless battles!

Eternal hails to all our brothers, curses upon the false and know we rise and continue from the ashes, knowing our victories and losses here are always temporary, always thinking of the Long Defeat and where we stand at the end of all things.

HAIL

What a shame, only two albums released in their name as well, their latest being very good I thought. It looks like four members are forming their own group, so that's at least something to look forward too. Anyway, good luck to David Baron, and his future.

It's a real shame, indeed. Ascent Of Kings is probably going to be in my year-end list.
