The second annual Swedish Metal Awards 2008 were held Friday Night 23 January in Gothenburg, Sweden. Here are the winners:
- Hard-Rock Category: Bullet - Bite The Bullet
- Death Metal Category: In Flames - A Sense Of Purpose
- Glam/Sleazy Category: Gemini Five - Sex Drugs Anarchy
- Heavy/Power Metal Category: Sabaton - The Art Of War
- Punk/Hardcore Category: Kid Down - I Want My Girlfriend Rich
- Metal Category (Thrash, Black, Doom etc.): The Haunted - Versus
- Alternative Metal Category (Modern, Nu, Progressive etc.): Evergrey - Torn
- Best Newcomers Category: Dead By April
- Best Video/Director Category: In Flames/Patric Ullaeus - Alias

I thought this to be "an institution inside metal", like our beloved FMA and whatnot.
I agree how raging responses are hilarious, then again I can't be bothered to give a shit about these kind of things.
just because it has "metal" in the title doesn't really mean too much. perhaps it is, but clearly based upon the torch and pitchfork wielding mob on this thread, they are not particularly in touch with the tastes of the metal community.
meh. less serious debate, i want to see more inflammatory rhetoric! |

Thank God no Draconian, that band is average at best (imo of course). At least Johan Ericson's Doom: VS solo project is vastly superior to it. |

Yeah i guess it is what you are looking for. I found that album more touching than their previous ones.. despite a lot of tracks being 'average' or goth it was still stellar melodies and what i like in doom music.. even though in appearance it doesn't meet doom qualifications .. lol
