Largely influenced by doping cases, this sport has passed for a lot lately. Lance Armstrong is an icon of this sport but even him have a cloud of doubt around. Personally, I admire Contador and Cancellara, and historically Indurain and Virenque are my favourites. I never participated in competition, but I like to take some short rides with friends.

Do we have any metalstormers passionated by this sport? Any competition lover?

I well lets say I like doinf it by my selfd, but not nowdays since alcohol is stronger hwo I and I be tired fast , but I like watching it , Giro D' Italia , Tour de FRance, Vuelta Espana and othersd, its one of best ways see natures, landscapes, houses etc in area where race take place and its even like watching Trevel Channel, but werry huge - in sport is dpoing, Mario Cipollini was young but he looked like old man

Many poeple dislikes him because he's like Shumaher in F1 many love shim ,many hates him
My favorite rider was Mario Chipelino n Romans Vainsteins, nowdays I havnt many even I enjoy race
Only OG race, I didnt like track in China it was many circles , I prefere like one from A to Z

I never said I didn't like Armstrong.. by the contrary, he's a great athlete and a amazing human being too. Unfortunately, it's sad that he refused to do doping counter-analysis in his first Tour win. That's a stain hard to clean, even if he won six tours after that. Anyway, I respect the guy, even more after his great comeback.

About Virenque, I know he was caught, but not in the race I saw that leaved me completely shocked: it was a Tour victory in a very hard climb that he did all alone for 2 hours. He won it with less than 15min to the 2nd. I believe it was his last year in the Tour.

I think i never got into cycling...the races are usually boring for me to watch...i accept it is damn hard work for riders, but i find it not really thrilling...but i have to admit i usually watch the half-an-hour daily reports from Tour de France

Then how you like F1?
Its same long race, I prefere speedway , well but sometimes race is boring but if you look for landscaped and I tryd one 35 km and was so fucked up after it, dunno how they can do 150km per day, well doping maybe helps

While on rowing training camp i made about 70kms in one day (and there were more such a days)

but about racing - in f1 they are at least trying to race...cycling is only tactics, sometimes someone try to escape but this is more likely rare...

Loads of tactics goign on there as well. Most recent one that comes to mind the thing that is now called crashgate.

But still F1 race is 1,5 hours...cycling is 4 or more hours...of nothing...

lol 99% its in american football

IMO peopel dont like this sport because its to slow, F1 can ride fast, but cyclers can how fast they can, and it looks slow in TV, probobly many watch it and wate when there's be magore fall and people will fall many in race , besides in team sport, I made mistace, fall wtaverev there can be anybody who can try or repair my mistace, here if I fall or made mistace I cant do anything to repair it

Have you ever seen cylists go downhill?
The go at around 90 kilometers per hour and them missing a bend is quite spectacular, especially when they crawl out of a ravine all bloody and beaten to a pulp

That must be surely great...but first you have to wait hour or more till they reach this downhill...

I'm in chock! I'm a die-hard fan of VDB and I followed him in a lot of his races.
I even followed him when he was in jail and when his very short career was over before it began.
The cycling world looses one of the greatest talents in history!
Last time I saw him was 4 weeks ago an he looked very relaxed.
Damn, I'm devastated! 34 years old, leaving 2 kids behind...sad!
Noone knows what hapened in Senegal but it seems that he was accompanied by a prostitute and was under influence of alcohol, Xanax and Stilnoct. Cause of death is not sure yet.
Lived extremely fast, died in miserie, that's what we always have known, but it's still a chock!
RIP you mutherfuckin' VDB!!!

You answered the cause of death: accompanied by a prostitute and under the influence of drugs and alcohol. That's a fatal mix that ends many time in death, like in this case. That's not a good example for the kids who want to do professional cycling. Anyway, he was a good racer and surely will be missed by the international peloton.

Cyclocross is it where they race and run and get over thinks
If yes I like it. Its hard to see Europsort shows winter sport, ES2Nordic Bundesliga, TV4 spoirt EC inhandball, Canal+ Sport PL and Elitserien, so I saw it in news in Eurosport2 its good event, I would like see all race even not live but replay its interestingt

Yes, they race and run, but they only run when the field is too bad to ride and when they need to get up a couple of stairs they run too of course
By the way: Stybar won, Belgians Vantornhout and Nijs second and third. Bad championchips for my homecountry: 13 years or so that we didn't take one gold medal.

The only thing I like about cycling:

holy shit I teared up cause I was laughing so hard!

anyways, I have always liked cycling but can't afford to buy one (I want a good one, not some cheap piece of crap from Wal-Mart lol)

I never did watch the sport though.

Speaking of cycling, I'll have to borrow one this thursday 'cause we have the annual "no car day". No private cars are allowed on the streets, except for taxis, buses and public transport, and obviously cars from the government and all those... assholes.
