Ok people, like the old one, this is the place to tell us your latest concert experiences!

I'll start by pasting my last message in the old thread:

I saw Behemoth, Kataklysm, Aborted and Lyfthrasyr on Sunday.

As I may write a report about this one, I won't say much. Just that Kataklysm, and above all Behemoth, were amazing. Really. Absolutely amazing. I've been blown away, even if it was the third time this year I was seeing Behemoth live (after the No Mercy fest and the Hellfest). But, as headliners, they are even better.

Ok, I'll just give you the setlists of the last two bands, for those who care
Setlist Kataklysm:
Like Angels (Weeping The Dark)
Let Them Burn
Ambassador Of Pain
The Resurrected
Crippled & Broken
Serenity In Fire
1999:6661:2000
Where The Enemy Sleeps...
Beyond Salvation
As I Slither
Face The Face Of War
Manipulator Of Souls
In Shadows And Dust

Setlist Behemoth:
Rome 64 C.E.
Slaying The Prophets Of Isa
Antichristian Phenomenon
Demigod
From The Pagan Vastlands
Prometherion
Conquer All
Christgrinding Avenue
Drum Solo
Slaves Shall Serve
As Above So Below
Summoning Of the Ancient Gods
Christians To The Lions
Decade Of Therion
Chant For Eschaton 2000

Encore:
I Got Erection (Turbonegro cover)

To reply to another post in the old thread, both bands played approximately 75 minutes.

Next to come is Enslaved and Keep Of Kalessin tomorrow

I went to see concert of Tarja last night. Well I must say that before this one I wasn't expecting anything special or spectacular. But I was quiet curious...of course if you are going to see one of the top female singers in metal general, so that's why attended this concert. However, it turned out that this show was suprisingly great. Performance of main actor of this event was realy amazing...her voice sounds just perfect, performance on stage was very energic and communication with the crowd was quite nice. The rest of the band played pretty good too, so is was no bad things to mentioned. I also liked that they've played 3 songs from Nightwish and Poison cover.

To sum up, it was definitely worthed of every cent and second at this show. Hope to see her/them soon.

Well I was standing a bit in the back when they played so it might not have been the best possible experience.
Anyway they played some new and some old, I can't pinpoint their whole set, but I'm pretty sure they played "Serpent Saints", "Chief Rebel Angel", "When in sodom", "I for an Eye" and "Masters of Death".
They played one old school song too I think (Left hand path/clandestine) because it was more brutal than the newer groovy stuff.
Mixed feelings.. I prefer their oldest stuff

2 shows in 2 days. Last friday i watched Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Burnt By The Sun, Obscura and Evocation and on Saturday i watched Paradise Lost with a Greek band called Poem.

Cannibal Corpse: excellent performance, Fisher is a fuckin monster on the stage. they had some sound sound problems and i also dont liked that he says some standard things before some songs. it's not bad, it happens often with bands but the way he did it was like he had it writen in his hand. generally their appearance was great.

Dying Fetus: great sound and completely perfect performance. perfect combination of technicallity and brutality.

BBTS:dont like them, i took time to rest.

Obscura: greta band with great potential. technically magnificent.

Evocation: good but not that good setlist (only from the new album).

next day, Paradise Lost: really really good but with a broken neck it was a bit difficult for many people to enjoy them.

Last saturday I attended the Raise the Dead fest:

Raging Steel - They play strictly oldschool thrash, okay but highly unoriginal. I only heard the last 30 seconds of their last song, but I doubt I missed out on much

RAM - Fun heavy metal. Nothing spectacular and to be honest I was wanting something harder

General Surgery - Now we're talking! The band enters the stage in bloodstained white clothing and blows my mind with their groovy deathgrind (mostly death metal i reckon). To be short, they got a new fan

Asphyx - Holy shit, it's Martin van Drunen!!! Asphyx kills it with their trademark death metal fused with doomy parts. The slow parts are highly effective live after some beers! Very satisfying set, good variation between the old and new stuff

Sodom - Headliners, the Germans seems to get good response from the audience. I wasn't too impressed though. Highlights was probably "Agent Orange" and "M-16".

Went to see Dream Theater (support: Opeth, Unexpect, Bigelf) for the first time, few days ago.

Well I missed the first band Unexpect, than the next one Bigelf didn't leave any big impressions on me. While right after a few minute break all mighty Opeth take the stage. I saw them for the third time and I must say not any big suprises, performance was on the level, setlist pretty good, which I can also say for the sound. So a nice warm up hour.

Dream Theater as the main act of the evening finally take the place. It was a great show and experience to see all these amazing musicians in one place. Altohugh I'm not such a big fan of their music, they definitely impressed me with the performance. Sound during their show was completetly flawless.

The following shows that I'm attending will be: Paradise Lost and after that Slayer

Yesterday I saw Faith No More.

At first, there was the opening act, which was boring as hell, it was Pato Machete, a rapper guy who used to sing in a mexican rap band called Control Machete, they used to be very popular back then in the 90's or that's what I remember, whatever, his show was freakin' boring, and the people didn't seem too happy. Then, it finished, and the show delayed a bit to start, but it finally started, and hell, Mike Patton is just awesome, his vocal ability is something incredible, and I didn't knew he could speak spanish so well, he spoke spanish almost the entire show when talking with the fans, he even made some little local mexican jokes, like when he said "esta cancion va dedicada para Los Tigres del Norte" (translation: this song goes dedicated for Los Tigres del Norte, it's a local mexican ranchero/norteño band). Overall it was good, the setlist was good, but I wanted them to play Falling To Pieces, but well, still I wouldn't complain about it.

Ensiferum Monday night - was a great show! Hypocrisy didn't make it due to visa troubles (freaking sucks!) but it wasn't a total loss.

I'll be seeing Eluveitie tomorrow night and then Cannibal Corpse (again) on Monday night! So many shows YAY!

Amon Amarth yesterday.
The support was soooo boring! Cilice or something is a dutch band. I don't know what style they play, but it isn't my cup of tea.
Amon Amarth gave a good show. The sound was ok and everyone wanted to party.
Not a lot of moshing though. During crowdsurfing I cut my leg on something(wristband?)
After (and during) the show we got totally wasted. My wife was kind of pissed of at night.
Going to shows rocks!

Just went to Heathenfest 2009 with Eluveitie in Virginia. One of the best shows I have ever been to. Me and a group of friends arrived at the venue about 6 hours before the show in the cold and rain and had ourselves a nice little party in the parking lot. We brought a grill, burgers, mead, and lots of beer. We were eventually accompanied by Alestorm and a few members of Eluveitie before the doors opened. The concert itself was amazing. There was such a good atmosphere the whole night. Lots of dancing and high spirits. Eluveitie was incredible, as they always are, playing all the best of their catalogue including a new tune from their upcoming album, and closing with AnDro and Tegernako. Then it was back outside for about an hour to have a few more beers with Alestorm before heading home.

Yes!!! I went to Heathenfest a few nights ago as well. What an amazing show! Vried was fcking killer...I'll have to buy their stuff. Alestorm was funny...gotta love the drunk Scottish pirates! and aparently they had the swine flu...at least that was a rumor that was flying around. Belphegor was great as always...I never get tired of some god black metal. and then there was Eluveitie. They sound just like they do on album...fucking awesome! For all the other bands, the crowd was pretty tame (there was a pit but no crowdsurfing for the most part) but not for Eluveitie. The crowd just went apeshit for them (myself included) and now I have a nice welt on my right shin

I'll be seeing Cannibal Corpse tomorrow night and Marduk on the 24th! woohoo!

The last show I saw was pretty crazy. The opening band was some groove metal band that I can't remember the name of. Next was a local hardcore punk band called plague. After that there was a Canadian NWBHM band named Cauldron. Then the band I came to see, Goatwhore (blackened death), and finally the headliner: Municipal Waste. The crowd was fairly small for the venue, with maybe 70 people, but very energetic. The mosh pit did not stop the whole time Goatwhore and Municipal Waste were playing. During Municipal Waste literally half the crowd got up on stage and dove back into the remaining crowd. The floor was slick from all the spilled beer, and people were constantly sliding and falling over in the mosh pit.

It was amazing and beautiful for some reasons: one being the setlist, they played "lazarus" and "start of something beautiful" which I really appreciate, being a huge Deadwing fan. Last year they had played "Open Car" and "Halo", so it balanced nicely. Another thing about the setlist, they played The Incident in its entirety, of course, and to me that is a highlight of my going to concerts "experience" since I never had a full album played live and I recommend it, especially if it's a good album

The show was long, the way I like it. I was curious to see how The Incident would translate live but Wilson's voice just blew me away, he's getting better and better like Port wine! The band was excellent as well, delivering the goods, they were very friendly, even more so than the last time. Even though I find it hard to believe that bands enjoy every concert, I think they were having fun, Wilson was clearly satisfied with the audience's response to the songs. I loved Russia on Ice, it was big for me and who can say they heard "Strip the Soul" twice? 2 in 2 years, I love it! lol

On a different note, things you can only experience if you're there, Wilson momentarily lost his voice in the beginning of "Normal", it was hilarious because he said "Please, stop smoking" and laughed histerically. Just his reaction was so funny, never thought a mistake would be so funny. I loved the spontaneity of the whole thing. Then he continued and the song was enjoyable. It doesn't sound funny but if you saw it, the little noise he made, you would've laughed.

Anyway, kudos for Stick Men, which impressed me, I wasn't expecting much but now I'm curious about them. Too bad the sound was bad for them at the beginning, as usual. But, overall, the sound is pretty good in Incrível Almadense's venue. Hope to have many nights like this one.

Setlist: The Incident; the start of something beautiful, russia on ice, anesthetise, lazarus, strip the soul, 3., normal, way out of here, the sound of muzak, trains.

Can I just say something else? I'm starting to hate those people who only go there to film the thing and put it on youtube. I had this huge guy in front of me, all I wanted was to watch the show and enjoy myself and he was always filming and obstructing my view. I'm tiny but I have my way around shows, I pick good spots but this guy was just irritating. You pay your ticket to see the show through a cellphone? I always go to shows for the same reason, to have fun and connect with the band I love. I would appreaciate it if people would just let me see the show, since they don't want to see it, let the others see it, at least.

I saw Stratovarius playing a week ago to an audience of some 600 people. Show was really good, the setlist was next to perfect, and Kotipelto owned the place. The only thing I have to complain about was the 15-minute or so "instrument-masturbation" session in the middle of the show. Guitar and bass solos followed each other, and the whole thing was an absolute mood killer. I actually saw some people leaving the place during those solos. I guess we have to consider ourselves lucky that there was no drum solo

However, they played Legions so can't complain much...

I saw Clutch yesterday in Vienna. Great live band indeed! All these supposedly simple and downtuned songs of the album grow through brilliant performance and nice moody fillings... honestly the drummer shows off in a positive way - fine skills without any posing.
The best thing was, that they got better with every song. Everytime when I thought "now they gonna end...", they kickstarted another song, and the crowd was really in some ecstatic condition. Wow!

Before them played Kylesa, who disappointed me a bit. The sound was poor imo. But they obviously felt rejected by the cold and lazy crowd, and didn't seem to be unhappy, when they left after a short 5/6-song set.

Kamchatka isn't metal at all, but they are fantastic live. Solid bluesy rock trio with both guitarist and bassist singing very good.

Entombed last night.
I gotta say i wasnt much of a fan of this band, but their live performance simply won me over. Not many bands from Europe come here to my country (Bolivia), actually i think Entombed is the 3rd.
They played mostly old stuff, Lars gave everything on stage and overall it was the best concert I attended to.

The other night I saw marduk for the first time ever! They were great live...just fuckin killer! Apparently this particular show was very out of control too...some guy got thrown out for screaming Nachtmystium was not tr00 during their sound check (Nachtmystium had security throw him out lol) Someone got a nasty ass nosebleed on the pit and bled everywhere and apparently the mens bathroom looked like a murder scene because of it. Also not to mention someone puked his guts out all over said bathroom. (Glad I didn't see that) AND in the same bathroom, someone got arrested! Yeah I guess all the action was in the men's bathroom lol
