Another year passes, another Burzum album is released. Since Varg Vikernes, the most controversial Norwegian figure, has been released on probation from jail, he managed to put a new album every year and 2012, the year when the Mayan "apocalypse" is supposed to take place, is no exception.

I do not know what Varg has been doing in jail. For 11 years he hasn't released a new record and in 2010 we get Belus and one year later Fallen. What can we say about Umskiptar? A new direction? Maybe, but not quite. Is it good or not? Depends on the individual. Since this is my own review I have to admit that when I listened to it first, I wasn't impressed but after a couple of auditions, I get that even Varg tries to take a step towards innovation.

For reviewing purposes I agree with you but not every album has a collection of great songs worth listening to. Sometimes only a handful of songs standout. For the most part I listen to every album in it's entirely but there are some that I cherry pick one of more songs off.

Depends on the genre off course. I can give or take easily a couple of tracks of certain genres but I think the more extreme the genre the more it's necessary to see the whole picture. but overall... If I want an opinion, I listen to the whole thing... It's part of a concept, not matter how "normal" the music is.

I've heard the entire album. So...
WAY TOO LONG. Just by taking 25 mins the album would have been better but that doesn't say much.
I thought it was going to be way worse considering Troy and Joe's comments.... but nah. If it was 40 min it could have been a 6 or at the very most a very very light 7... But nah, 5 it is. Could have been less shitty but nah... he wanted it to be fucking long. I found Fallen to be a step up after the shitty Belus... but now we're back with the shittyness.

Draggy... with some good moments. Out of Burzum's discography this one beats only Hliðskjálf, and that's only by an inch.

How on Earth someone can find Hliðskjálf better than Dauði Baldrs is beyond me.

Altogether, Daudi's contents' nature is more enjoyable and inspiring. Partially it continues the musical style which ended the Filosofem album, just this time with new spices (for instance, medieval & the 'cheap sound'). Compared to Hlidskjalf, this one has the better atmosphere, though Hlidskjalf owns the best track what comes to these two releases; "Der Tod Wuotans".

To me Daudi whatsit just sounds like a horrible midi record played by a child. That's pretty much it for me.
