Yes, the rumors are true. There is a whole universe of music outside our terrestrial metal home.

Sometimes it also good to stop listening to EVERYTHING for a while. Maybe pick up a book or try your hand at making your own music. It can help relieve that overwhelming feeling of bitterness associated with this generation's unlimited access to music. Poor us! (firstworldproblems)

I'm actually kind of the opposite. I listen to too much, and I don't listen to enough of the standard metal bands.

Well, after a couple months, I revise my answer... one month ago I was screaming at myself for downloading countless discographies, trying everything, and I was bit overwhelmed with stuff... I just felt so sorry for not having sufficient time to listen to all the music I like. So I kinda just stopped looking.

And then came the preparations for the Awards and more official reviews, so I said to myself:"Fuck this, I was born to devour music". I'm still a bit slower than I used to be though.

As for growing out of metal, I might develop some non-metal listening habits but I don't think I'll stop listening to it completely. I mean, even the stuff I have on my computer now will last me several years, and I'm always hungry to hear the next new thing... I wanna be a part of the history of the genre I guess. To tell my hypothetical kids that their old ma' saw the birth of some Progzilla band or whatever

Is it me? or anyone out here doesn't reading the topic properly?( except for the last 2 or 3 post).

Sometimes I wonder why I 'm still searching for new sounds and bands...
I've got enough music to fill my days with.
I once had a period thet I bought 10 albums at the same time, but if you do that 3 times in a row, when are you going to listen them?
When I was younger and didn't have that much LP's, I knew all the songs, all the lyrics and everything around a certain band.
Now I forget songs, lyrics and some albums can't stay in my head because I don't listen them enough although I like 'em.

I'm the same. I have soooo much music still to get through but I don't want to ignore everything new that comes out for a year or so just so I can finish listening to everything I have at the moment. And my mood for music varies greatly too. A few months ago I listened to two Bathory albums in a week and was really into it but i just don't have the passion for that right now. For example, I'm exploring more death metal now but I'll probably work my way back to black metal in a few months.
