Hell yeah, '90s.
Seriously, the power metal Pantera sucked with the exception of a few songs (Power Metal wasn't all that great).
'90s Pantera was watered-down groove metal (minus Cowboys from Hell), so not all that great either, but still much better.

What, wait... There are people who actually like that crap Pantera was pinching off in the 80's?

*shudder*

Had to go with the 90's as well. I really wanted to like Power Metal, and it isn't horrible, but the three albums between Cowboys from Hell and Far Beyond Driven are much better. They definitely went downhill after Great Southern Trendkill though.

Agreed Reinventing the Steel was ..... bad. Although that's the 2000's not 80's or 90's so you can't really vote for that album.

There's one vote for that horrendous, sub-par glam era?
I wouldn't have expected that!

I've always seen Pantera as a good old fashion jam band. Something you listen to when your getting drunk with friends.

Nope, Exhorder did.

Sorry your wrong Vezzy. If you look at the profiles for both bands Pantera started in 1990, Exhorder in 1991.

Slaughter in the Vatican came 8 days before Cowboys from Hell. Otherwise they had demos before that.
Also, VH, I know you can copy from Wikipedia, good for you.

The 80's stuff was lol inducing rather than vomit inducing, so I'm gonna vote 80's on this one.

Are you f**king insane?

As commercial and watered down groove Pantera was (and how Exhorder's better), it's still much better than '80s US power trash Pantera.

I voted for the 90's, so I didn't give any consideration to it. Still, it was released in 2000...big fucking deal, it is still worth mentioning that it was a step down.

whooot?
You mean bad glam stuff, so lame that the band themselves tried to deny it even existed?

Metal Magic was glam, but after that it was some weird US power/hard rock thing.
They did try, but their attempts were laughable.

Well Power Metal was, somehow. But up to I Am The Night included, it's more glam than anything, even if their sound 'evolved'...

I haven't heard their albums prior to Power Metal, so maybe it isn't even fair for me to vote...but I guess Power Metal could be considered as power/ hard rock, although I thought it was pretty much glam.

Another ode to Pantera from myself.

Seriously, for me it's the 90s all way, Vulgar Display of Power is one of my favourite albums of all time, and Cowboys From Hell and far Beyond Driven are in my top ten as well.
It's just a shame that I never got to see them live, I found them when I was 15, and soon after that Dimebag got murdered - I still remember how devastated I was.

RIP, Brother Dime. You'll live on forever because of your fantastic music.

Dude don't piss on a guys death. I'm not big on him either but I don't say he deserved it or that I'm glad he's dead. There is no reason to do such a disrespectful thing.

Pantera were tough guy commercial blokes, but Dimebag wasn't a bad guitarist by any means, though immensely overrated, he still deserves more attention, than say, the hack that The Rev was.

I think it's pushing it by saying The Rev was a hack. While both band members are probably overrated just due to their untimely deaths, they were both easily the most talented musicians in their respective bands. Maybe not so much The Rev since the guitarists in Avenged Sevenfold are pretty good but still, he was a damned good drummer.

80's Pantera had some great trad/speed metal songs, while 90's was basically one long boring groove, aside from a Cowboys and some of TGST.

Fun Fact- Only Pantera's debut was really a glam album. The others were more trad metal than glam.
