26.01.2012 - 15:00 Written by Milena on 26.01.2012 at 11:37 i"m sure had that been the lyrics of an avant garde black band it"d be considered surrealist poetry, deep and something listeners need to interpret

26.01.2012 - 15:48 Written by theFIST on 26.01.2012 at 15:35 As everything in life, say the alcoholics What I found fascinating in your previous comment - there are some genres which insist on being high-brow and mysterious and "smarter", while in reality they often fail. Prog is my favorite genre, and while I do admit there is an abundance of good writers there, sometimes prog metallers fail so hard it's ridiculous just because they try to tackle the mysteries of life of which they know nothing about. And in contrast some of my favorite stories are from power metal bands who prove you can stray from the "swords and dragons" principle - Kamelot have two awesome concept albums and Sonata Arctica have some really insightful psychology.

26.01.2012 - 16:24 Written by Milena on 26.01.2012 at 15:48 i disagree with them, it coming out where it entered is certainly not enjoyable and yeah, hadn"t i known such genres existed, i"d probably just have written "damn that"s stupid" my favourite stories are from authors, not musicians

This is from the Bethlehem song, "Luftstehs'Ibläh": yeah, what is it then? Stinky-Cunt puked once in awhile In a bucket of cats And Satanic Sewing-Machines The Evil Sausage sinking sank When Childish Greasy Pizza picks at their hair Fussy struggle horn and having a flat chest To cause irrevelant blows of mayhem When foul-toothed Dirk stinks out of his mouth Biting flesh in the Land of Vertical Smiles WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN

Credit goes specially to Pig Destroyer. J.R. Hayes writes some of the most beautifully disturbing lyrics I've ever read. Nothing short of a poet.

Someone's already said it but I agree, most metal bands in general have terrible words (i hesitate even to call them "lyrics")... Personally I really can't stand puerile gore fantasy shit, songs glorifying war and violence and rape (what's the fucking point in that?), songs about devils and demons (unless they're extrordinarily well-written, and I've heard that too). I do like insight and well-turned phrases, I like it when the dark side of the human psyche is laid bare - and metal is good at this - as long as it's done intelligently. I also like humour in lyrics, and too many writers apparently take themselves way too seriously. But then, being br00tal is srs bzns. Metal certainly isn't the only kind of music which fails on this point. In fact I'd say metal in general does better than most styles of music; but like hip hop (which also does well in the lyrics discussion), metal has much more bad than good.

31.05.2012 - 01:11 Written by Guest on 30.05.2012 at 23:58 I like them too. Immortal is my favorite band. The post was directed to Daniell who hates them a lot. He hates their lyrics, their song titles and their grammar. I argued with him on this topic several times before, so I was surprised he didn't mention them here.

31.05.2012 - 03:46 Written by Boxcar Willy on 31.05.2012 at 03:44 Allegedly. Not that it makes any difference - give the guy a year to write something decent and he'd still be better off making them up on the spot.

Here are the lyrics for their song "Blaspheme Muhammad's Name": Muhammad false prophet I piss upon your shrine Muhammad, you faggot Your name shall fade with time Blaspheme Muhammad's Name x4 False prophet of allah A weak powerless god Pitiful lowlife humans Cower to such ignorance Blaspheme Muhammad's Name x4 Fuck Muhammad! Fuck Allah! Fuck Muhammad! Fuck Allah! Blaspheme Muhammad's Name x4 Blaspheme Muhammad's Name x8 Here's an excerpt from their song "Ejaculate Upon the Holy Qur'an": Lubricate my cock Qur-an lies before me Egocentric religion Truly does abhor me Building up my tension Ready to explode Upon the Holy Qur-an I shoot my load And finally, here are the lyrics to the song "Jesus Christ and the Christian Church": Fuck Jesus Christ Fuck The Christian Church Fuck Jesus Christ Fuck The Christian Church (repeat) Now, I'm all in support of speaking blasphemy, but these lyrics are fucking childish.
