I would assume people would tag them as a hybrid (for instance, http://www.metalstorm.net/bands/band.php?band_id=2027).

Viking metal is/was only used for black metal that wasn't simply "folk" (that usually indicates bands like Primordial and Agalloch) but more "battle-esque" instruments (think war horns like in LOTR). The fact that it is this hard to explain does take away from its credibility, but I still think a term like viking metal holds more weight than something silly like "djent" being based on the sound a guitar makes.

Instrumentation does not change a genre, if I play Vivaldi on guitar, I am still playing classical not doom. Now they use different instruments to make the same themes. I tend to think these are all just black and power metal bands, etc. Just like Atheist is still death metal.

I prefer the atmosphere. Then what genre it is doesn't matter.

I depends on how the instrumentation weighs so it could qualify to help develop a new genre.

Just Like Old school death metal, it's basically Extreme Thrash riffs.

Death metal. I find more enjoyment in listening to it. As I'm already a die-hard Thrash fan, death metal is what does it to me. Black metal is good, but.. meh. DM rules.

2. Death Metal drumming sounds very good.

"IX Equilibrium" was the album that made me fell in love with this band, so.. you may need to check it someday.

Absolutely Black Metal. I am listening to black metal for some time, and I am enjoying all the thing, but Death Metal is different. I like Amon Amarth, but it's too hard for me to listen things like Cannibal Corpse.

Seriously. You really don't know what raw Bm is like, the only BM band you listen to is Dimmu Borgir. Listen to Mayhem first.
Death Metal IMO kills Black Metal, nuff said.
