No one - you're married ... how much did cost your marriage in dollars total?
Did you take loan from bank as mortgage to organize?

5 grand. Two parents chipped in and we saved for just about half. My wife got her dress for $350 and no shit, it looked better than (and every one thought it was) a two thousand dollar or more dress, like the ones chicks usually waste there money on. We also saved for our own honeymoon.

It sounds tacky and cheap, but it was an awesome wedding. It was a nice location with close friends and family that felt very genuine instead of a big cheesy show. It feels good that we didn't get a massive loan and get in debt all for one day. I can't believe some people would spend more on there dress than our whole wedding, even if they are rich.

There's absolutely nothing tacky about that. It sounds sensible and lovely. I'm sure you both enjoyed yourselves without having all of that stress that goes along with planning a $100,000 wedding.

yes its true, stress, fuck ups and so on, planning never works ... its like one dude take measures from gis 4 years old son for suit, and he make that sut when he was 7 using same measures and was pissed why it was to small ...
... I hate planning, organizing, in my wedding there wont be suits, just ordinary metal cloths I hope my bride accepts it
wedding is for coples not for social media to discuss and impress

In hindsight my wife and I think we should've eloped and not bothered with all the stress of the wedding.

Ours cost about AUD$11,000 which in hindsight would've been better spent going to Europe.

I always thought that marriages are far better if done legally only and the money is better spent on the honeymoon, but so few couples think about that.

If you really want a party why not just invite everyone and make a everyone pays for itself thing?

It is possible that no one's brother didn't need those things.

In Australia many people marry after they've been living for a long time with their partner ("try before you buy." ). I lived with my girlfriend for 3 years before we got married. We also marry older - late 20s/early 30s.

As such many of us already have all the household items. Extra toasters and dinner sets are thus a complete waste, especially as most of us have our own personal style - "rich" Aussies can be choosy.

I suspect it's similar in New Zealand.

Yeah my brother was already set up in his house, and your right, you don't want other peoples style of house hold items. Even we're like that and we're not even rich.

Much rather some honeymoon money than some extra knives and forks or a big clock suited for a modern downtown apartment when you live in a villa in the country.

It's called "high ratings" - apparently Eurovision does well on Aussie tv.

And if Israel and countries in the Caucasus can be in Eurovision, then any geographic limitiations are idiotic anyhow.

I meant rich by global standards. Even lower income in a country like Australia or New Zealand is middle class by the rest of the world's standards.

Totally agree. We got some wedding gifts like that and sold them in a garage sale.
