Seems like you haven't heard most of the bands he mentioned.

Only ones really not technical at are Immolation, Cannibal Bore and Death.

First would like to say I have a lot of respect for both of you guys, I understand that you're both embedded in the scene and have probably been listening to metal since before I was born. With that said I would disagree, Cannibal Corpse is an extremely Technical band at least from Kill Onwards, immolation is certainly Uber-techinal at times, as well as death from on Human, Individual Thought patterns, and The Sound of Perseverance. My Definition of Technical death metal is not limited to bands whom Indulge in a lot of Sweep Picking, Lead guitar riffs, etc. I would define it as being characterized by frequent tempo changes, Extreme musicianship (that is parts that are complicated in service of the song, not for showing off), and of course odd time signatures, and last but not least, audible and Nimble bass playing (Immolation being an exception to this). Have you guys not heard Close to a World below?

Actually for a purist as me Death is only borderline death metal on Human and not on Individual Thought Patterans and certainly never ever on The Sound Of Perserverance.

Well I am not a purist, and hope we can be adults and simply agree to disagree. Or we could resort to petty bickering like Adult Children or Proletariat Socialites.

What about Beyond Creation and Fallujah? Or are those too progressive? I think Dying Fetus fits in the category you're looking for.

Don't know for Fallujah since I never really heard them apart from the name, but Beyond Creation is definitely TDM.

Now my suggestions for Technical/Prog DM:

- Demilich
- Nocturnus (now known as Nocturnus AD)
- Cryptopsy
- Pestilence
- Decapitated
- Quo Vadis (Canada)
- Martyr (Canada)
- Neuraxis
- Psycroptic
- Sympathy
- Anata
- Fleshgod Apocalypse

and yeah that's it... if you want more
My TDM list

Also, for Bad English... I don't know why you wouldn't consider Atheist... something other than TDM -_-.. but w/e

Element (USA) is a good tech death band project similar to suffocation. Another band I like it Augury, although their style is a bit different than the bands in the original post.
