I never understood why Axel Rudi Pell is considered a "guitar hero", I'm not a guitarist but his music always sounds super simple...

At the same time is always catchy and having Gioeli on vocals saves every tune.

Well, it's a good point. I play guitar and all I can say is that sometimes "guitar hero" doesn't necessarily menas "virtuoso".
For example, Angus Young or Michael Shencker are "guitar heroes" of course but they don't play virtuoso style.
Nowadays guitarists that play very fast licks and scales are called "shredders", like Malmsteen, Friedman, Becker, Gilbert, etc..

Yes, you are right! it's not just about technique. Personally, I wouldn't consider him a "style" guitar hero either as every song sounds pretty much the same to me (which I suppose can also be said of Angus Young). But I get it.

As an example, I would sooner consider a guitar hero Robert Sall from Work Of Art cause I can identify a clearly unique style in him.

I don't dislike Rudi Pell's music, but I'd rather play again 'Oceans of Time' a thousand times instead of any new record he has done since.

Yes, I think this is the point, a unique style that identifies them
