Gory Blister - The Fifth Fury

My brain seems to refuse to write a review without using a ridiculous reference. Apologies in advance, because this will be no exception: it sincerely helped me put order in the conflicting impressions I have of Gory Blister's Fifth Fury.

Fen - Carrion Skies

Carrion Skies burns with an immediacy which distinctively rekindles the black metal of their style, and lessens the aimlessness of the thorough exploration of post-rock elements that haplessly formed the basis for much of Dustwalker. The impression left here is one of a band getting to the point, and remarkably so.

Bands
Preternatural

Low-tuned guitar riffs, blasting rhytm section, multidimensional screaming vocals and ambient atmosheric melody. These features would probably describe the band's music best.

The story began in 1999, when two school friends Serg and Volod, being obsessed with a long-standing common dream of creating a band, started taking private guitar lessons. Soon, feeling enough skills to make some chords, the guys had recruited a bass player Den and a drummer Gin from the other band that had been rehearsing in a local area studio and started to play together. Each lad in the new band was influenced by absolutely different subgenres of metal and music itself. Instead of arguing upon, who would lead the style, the band had decided to create the unique link between their influences of death metal power, black metal grimness and ambient music's keyboard atmosphere. But with such a musical mixture the band needed a proper theme for lyrics and the name of the band must have been equal, either. Since, Serg (vocalist, guitaris) as a teenager, was drown in the studies of paranormal and psychology, the problem of lyrical theme had dissapeared. (Ever since, every song of the band is a different story dedicated to paranormal and our perception to that phenomenon in our life). The name problem hadn't lasted, either, cause one morning, Serg took the English language vocabulary, opened it at a random page and accidentally saw a word Preternatural.

Nycticorax

An excerpt from an interview given group metal portal mustdie.ru in 2007:
Lodbrok: It all started in 1997. After participating in several "basement" of the project, I wanted to start a band, and after many failures with the search of me finally managed to find like-minded people, and in 2000 there was a group of "Nightwing" . It took another two years, but not all the material accumulated during this time in my head, it was possible to implement. And I began to think about the second draft, so there was "one man band": "NYCTICORAX" and the first demo in English. It was a very poor record, but it was different from what I did in "NIGHTWING". Then my main band began to change, change the composition, the star of some participants of the disease began to appear creative pause, during which I fully stocked makeup "NYCTICORAX". (And immediately decided to go for a more complicated way of development, ie. E. The incomprehensible name, raw sound, lyrics in Russian, in the sense that it is desirable to think about it.) "

We Are The Catalyst - Monuments

Monuments is an alternative metal album that blends together many different styles, such as gothic, symphonic and nu-metal, into a pleasurable listening experience. This type of musical diversion from my normal, everyday listening choices have always been a guilty pleasure of mine. Female fronted, mid-tempo bands like Lacuna Coil and Elysion gnaw at my "softer" spots when I want to ingest metal music that's warm and dark but sedate and soothing. We Are The Catalyst follow that same superficial and assembly-line manufactured pattern made trendy by other bands of this kind today, but that's perfectly OK with me because for some unexplainable reason I really enjoy this stuff.

Armagedda

Armagedda was created in the mind of A in early 2000, but then went by the name Volkermord. Their idea was to create some spiritual disease through music that would infect and destroy human minds. Soon (couple of months later) A spoke with Graav and Phycon about this idea and all were in agreement... A rehearsal tape was recorded, but remained unreleased until 2008. The band entered the studio in mid-2000 for the recording of the Volkermord demo which enjoyed a grim and raw production; released in October, limited to only 30 copies. This demo was to be released on MCD format, but postponed indefinitely. In the very beginning of the year 2001 they entered the studio once again for the recording of the full-length debut-album The Final War Approaching.
