Strictly Limited To Finland

01. Forgive Her
02. Solitude [Candlemass cover] [feat. Sami "Albert "Witchfinder" Magus" Hynninen]

After the exceptionally claustrophobic, esoteric and absolutely atmospheric debut album, "The Morning Never Came", the Finnish doom/deathsters Swallow The Sun return, while we are waiting for their second brand new album, with a limited edition cd-single, "Forgive Her".

The single consists of only two songs, the new "Forgive Her?" which is a slow, with mid tempo passages, bittersweet mourning composition which, oddly, evokes a serene and devout atmosphere despite the overall sadness it unleashes in the heavy air, and a wonderful cover of a Candlemass hymn, "Solitude", with the guitars moving in monolithic soundscapes, paying tribute to this exceptional band.

In "Solitude" the epic and imposing vocals are done by the fabulous and ideally expressive front man of the traditional doomsters Reverend Bizarre, Albert Witchfinder, the person that, in my humble opinion, consists of the quintessence of this cd-single with his utterly descriptive and emotional interpretation. Albert Witchfinder adds his voice's personality to this cover and along with the doomy musical background that the rest of the Swallow The Sun evoke this cover sounds so wonderful with the band paying mainly tribute to Candlemass, yet not trying too hard to make it sound as if "Solitude" was one of their own compositions and lend it their personal sound.

The friends, and not only, of Swallow The Sun will love this single and will get an idea of what to expect from their forthcoming second release, "Ghosts Of Loss".
