Dornfall is a new Heavy/Progresive band from France, and their first album "Dornfall" is out this year for the pleasure of all the French Metal Heads, and why not also for the other Metal Heads all over the world. If you're not afraid of French lyrics, and if you like Heavy Metal, with some Dark Progressive touches you could give a luck to this young combo which deserves all our support.

Even if "Dornfall" is a real album, we are really near of the EP, with only 8 songs (two are the intro and an interlude) for 38 mins of music? 38 mins of classic Metal which remember me sometime some French classic Heavy combos, but however without very high pitched vocals mixed with some touches of Dark and sad Prog. Stef Molino is a good singer with a classic but beautiful voice? The music of the band is good but that's a Prog Metal band not a new Power combo, then don't expect a lot of really fast tempo and double-bass, that's not a bad point at the opposite we have something which don't sound like 99% of the releases that we can find nowadays.

The lyrics are cool, the riffs catchy and the solos are not bad at all, we have some promising musicians in this band, and the fact that we can also find some "Death" vocals on some choruses is a good idea they don't abuse of it, that's just an exceptional element in addition and it sounds good really. Plus, you will be able to find all that you want on a Prog/Heavy Metal album, Heavy songs, ballads, all that with a lot of emotions, that's great?

At the end, the only problem with this album comes from the production which is poor, the booklet for example is really simple no lyrics only two pages, but above all the sound is not really clean and it don't help a young band who needs a perfect production to show all his talent. I know that' not easy to have a great production for a first album, but that's always possible... Anyway that's not horrible too, but I think that we must always note these kind of problems because it always help the bands to improve their level for their future albums and anyway there are a lot of other good points on this album anyway then?

That's a promising album for sure, this band could do something in the future. They have some good musicians and I believe that they will be able to have a nice career, at least here in France. If they follow this way and if they have some better means of production next time the best will come no doubt.
