I wanted to take some time to review one of the albums of one of the most important bands in the Gothic Metal scene: Love Like Blood. If you don't know them, you're missing a lot, they been around for more than 10 years now and they have released a lot of albums. The core of the band is the Eysel brothers, one in the vocal department and the other handling the bass duties. Love Like Blood would be best described as Gothic Metal with a lot of influences of Rock and earlier Gothic bands like Bauhaus, Joy Division, Sisters Of Mercy, The Mission and so on.

So, now that you read the influences you might imagine that this album isn't 100% Metal, well, you're right, this album could appeal to any of your non-Metal friends, the songs are catchy but dark, from the beginning with "Love Kills" you know that you're in for a treat, but things doesn't cool down after that! It's turn for "Cry Out" and then "Dying Nation", another song, another hit.

We slow things now and is time for the properly entitled "Slow Motion" a great slow tune, with a lot of influences from Doom Metal, but the big surprise came when track 6 began, "7 Seconds" hmmm I heard this song before?.and when the chorus starts? Hey! This is that song! 7 seconds! Remember? Youssou N'Dour and Neneh Cherry? Great surprise and great cover too! Very nicely done!

Love Like Blood is a band that have been here for many years now, and it shows, their compositions, production and presentation, all is done in the most professional way, from "Love Kills" to "Remember" this an excellent album of Gothic Metal, fans of the genre will love this one, but I'll bet that fans of the genre already have this one, what? You call yourself a fan of Gothic Metal and you don't have this one? Eh? You don't have ANY album of Love Like Blood? I shall remain silent this time, those anger management classes did wonders in me.
