"Deafening Silence" is a young French band of Heavy Metal. Between Edguy and Manowar, this new combo does a true Heavy Metal in the pure inspiration of the German and Swedish style. After two demo ["Between Two Worlds" and "Muse"] they come through the label Brennus Music with their first album "Edge Of Life". Something honest with a lot of good points but unfortunately with some imperfections due certainly to the youngness of the band.

Let us be clear, "Edge Of Life" is a very correct album of Heavy, a lot of good and powerful tacks, good solos, good rhythmics and cool chorus which could be sing by the true Metal Heads that you are. The composition of the tracks is basic but this is the style of their music and at the end they knew how to do songs very catchy. A lot of the songs of this album are powerful warriors songs, and the guys of "Deafening Silence" even if they aren't metal killers know how to give a good feeling with their songs, little negative point however maybe the voice of Julien is not perfect but could certainly be better with more experience.
As you see, "Edge Of Life" is more than correct but unfortunately there is some very bad points with this cd.
The first one is certainly the lack of originality. Oki this is a first album and this is a young band then I really think that it could be better in the future but there is a lot of bands which do same actually and I really think that in this style of music the newcomers would have to take care to make something a little different if they don't want to be drowned in the mass.
The other [and for me the real bad point] of this album is the production. Damn it's a "real" album and that sound like a [good]demo? At the end the voice of Julien and the chorus are not very audible and the others instruments are too much present on each tracks in relation of the voice of the singer? Too bad It's a shame because this bad work will don't give a lot of chances for the band to be know out of the French frontiers?
On the other hand this is the first album of the band and I'm sure that the guys will do better for their next album

To sum up I must say that "Edge Of Life" is more than honest and "Deafening Silence" is a promising young French band, too bad that there is some problems with the production?
I'm sure when I see their work that the good things will come soon, with a little more of originality and a good mixing, "Deafening Silence" could be a real good surprise in the future. The best is to come for sure?
