"Winds Of Torment" is a young band of Melodic Thrash/Death metal in the pure tradition of the bands from northern Europe. This French combo produces here its first demo and "Oh my god!!!" what an excellent work for a demo. I receive a lot of demos, but it's clear that it's more than rare to get such productions, and the question is to know why this band still doesn't have a label, because believe me they deserve it.

The music of "Winds Of Torment" is very powerful with a lot of excellent guitar riffs and strong lines of double bass drums. The good point with that demo is in fact that the songs sound very professional and the music of the band sounds really mature. It's the first release of these five guys, but it's hard to find some mistakes due to the youth of the band. Believe me that this kind of quality augurs something really nice for the future of the band without any doubts. The four tracks [+ an intro] of the cd are all very well done and very well written and the different influences of the band which come from bands like "Opeth", "At The Gates" or "Testament" can be found in the songs, but however the music of "Winds Of Torment" is original with its own personality. And that's also a good point for me and I will say again that this is the kind of stuffs that make me really believe in this band. Another great point of this demo is certainly the production. About the sound, I can only say that even if it's not perfect we have however a really great sound for a demo, certainly better than some professional productions. Excellent.
And the cover, did you saw it? I've been writing reviews on Metalstorm since July 2002 and it's the first time that I get a demo with an artwork like this one. The cover is magnificent, the pictures in the booklet and the artwork are just great. Nothing to say, it's just better than a majority of confirmed bands and It's been a long time since I saw something so beautiful. Another time it shows that "Winds Of Torment" doesn't do things by halves..

I have nothing to add to this review of "The Cell Of The Erased", excepted that this demo is without any doubt one of the best of the year, made by one of the most promising bands from France. We will hear about "Winds Of Torment" no doubt on it, and I suggest to all the fans of good music to try this band trough this demo. Plus I suggest too to the labels to give a chance to this band which deserves to have a deal for a first album. "The Cell Of The Erased", a great first demo, no doubt that this album will be in my top 5 of the demo of the year.
