Thrash Metal and Brazil, this is a long story you know and well, I'm quite sure actually that the influence of a band named Sepultura is probably one of the main reason on the fact that a lot of people from Brazil love Thrash Metal. Today, we will be able to listen to another one new young Thrash Metal combo from Brazil, Chaosfear. "One Step Behind Anger" is their first album and for a beginning, it's not a bad start, at the opposite!

I'm sure that it is a bit boring for a Brazilian combo to be always compared to Sepultura or Angra, but well I'm sorry again, but I cannot avoid the comparison of Chaosfear and Sepultura. The main reason of this comparison is that Chasofear plays Thrash of course, but it also comes from the really similar rhythms if the music of Chaosfear that we was able to find too with Sepultura (old version). That's simple the music of Chaosfear is dark and a bit similar to the one of "Arise". Not so far away of Death Metal, this Thrash is dark but unfortunately a bit basic for me too sometime.

Sometime I have to regret the lack of differences between the songs. It's a bit messy but well in general this is more than ok for a first album. So ok, the Thrash of Chaosfear is a bit basic and I regret that we cannot find a lot of good interesting guitars solo but the violence of the music is really interesting. This is not a technical Thrash, we're more in front of an old school basic violent Thrash and sometime the good catchy melodies are a bit missing but the production is more than ok and it's not a problem to listen to this album if you like such music.

For a first album, "One Step Behind Anger" is a good release. I just hope that the band will be able maybe to find some melodies that will be a bit more attractive. Well, these ones aren't bad at all, but sometime it's a bit too dark in my opinion and with Thrash Metal we also need catchy songs if you see what I mean. Though, I recommend you this release, it's a good start for a first album.
