Someone uploaded a short clip of some new songs but it was taken down pretty quickly. Oh well its coming soon! Honestly I'd rather hear the studio before live. So I'm fine waiting. Wintersun is meant to be heard quietly alone with some nice speakers/headphones.

Absolutely breathtaking. The song Time brings me to tears, I am literally weeping each time I listen to it, even as I write this.

This album is HUGE. I'm overwhelmed. Can't wait til a better quality download comes out or the CD arrvies in the mail. Jari's vocals has improved alot over the years, he sounds even more amazing than before! "Sons of Winter and Stars" is a masterpiece for sure

I have to say, honestly, I expected to like it way less than the previous one, but it's more enjoyable so far (finishing the second listen). Definitely made the s/t sound like an 8, instead of a 9 it had in my ratings. Can't wait for the physical CD to arrive.
Yeah, the cleans have improved a lot, my only concern is that, when they play this live, 50% of the music will come from the backing tracks... the keys and the "orchestral" tracks have an immense presence here. And even with my newfound distaste for "big" and "epic", it doesn't bother me at all.

I had the same concern, but not personally really worried. Even if the majority is from backing tracks there is enough material on guitars alone to make it a very enjoyable live experience. Anyway I'm glad to hear you like it. Since it's really just half an album, its hard for me to compare it to the s/t, but so far I am enjoying it just as much if not more. I'm loving the orchestrations as well. I'm on my 2nd listen.

I would have fucked him with a chainsaw, cut of his prick and punch his face into bloody rags. I would have, but I can't... because those three songs are some of the best fucking things I ever heard in metal music...

Ahhh....I take it back then. Sorry. I haven't heard it yet but I cannot imagine one spends 8 years on an album and it will be horrible. I hope he is right because he seems to love it.

Call things for what they are instead of making it sound like those who honestly don't find it special are trolls, elitists or whatever just because they don't agree with you and have no problem saying it out loud.

That's not elitism, that's expressing an opinion...
Opinion based on his elitism... I do have respect for bands that are trying to do something different, to evolve music in some way, to create something more complex. There are so many musicians and people in industry who call Wintersun's efforts unique and interesting, see Wintersun's facebook for proof. I would say they know better than some persons here ,-)
Even I don't like many bands that are praised here, I do find them unique and interesting in what they are doing, not boring and average. Boring and average are bands playing the same black/death/power/heavy/symphonic metal for decades... And I do even find average a lot of bands that are in my favourite list.

Calling some band boring based on your enjoyment is subjective. Calling some band boring based on what new/different it delivers is objective. The same goes with unique/average.
