Here is some Montreal music that cools your blood. The unique blend of gothic metal and melodic death / black metal brought forth by Sanguine Glacialis has crystallized into a third album. Five years have gone by since 2018's Hadopelagic, but in the form Maladaptive Daydreaming picks up where its predecessor ended. Well this was pretty restless all the way through and it was hard for me to enjoy. Maybe I'm getting old or something but this felt like the exact opposite what I like to listen nowadays.

There's some good moments throughout this album, especially the gothic touches and some of the melodies, particularly on the track "Cauchemort", but as a whole I'm not finding it the most enjoyable or easily digestible listen. Perhaps it will be a grower in time?
