This album... This album was THE thing that (along with Carcass' "Heartwork") defined melodic death metal. A great album, but as it only has six songs and three live tracks, i feel as if its more of an EP. Nonetheless, the title track and 'The Swarm' are well executed songs, proving the distinct transition from the rawness of the preceding album and the pride of 'Slaughter of the Soul'.

At The Gates almost sounding like In Flames (or possibly even Dark Tranquillity) [or later Arch Enemy] during that era.
Always been fond of this track.
