I'm a fan of Angra, since the beginning and I must admit that their "split" if I can use this word was a really big disappointment for me. Their first album through the new area of the band "Rebirth" wasn't a good one for me, not because of the new musicians, but it was just uncoloured in comparison of the others albums of the band. But on the other hand, I totally understand that it's not easy to release a great and amazing album just after a real turnover in the line-up of a band. Then, I was waiting a lot this new album "Temple Of Shadows", and damn that's totally different... Yeah I must say it, this time I just took a big good nice kick in my ass… "Temple Of Shadows" is just an amazing and beautiful album…

Sometimes I should eat my own words. Why do I go talking about an album being the best? Because I believed nothing could prove me wrong. When you love a song or album so much nothing can make you change. And I thought I wasn't going to change.

I did. Well, maybe I will. Because even I said Voimasta Ja Kunniasta was the best metal album, or at least the one I loved the most, now I may change my opinion. This, my friends, is the best metal album. Or maybe I just should stop talking shit and just say that any album I rate as perfect (you won't find a lot of them) can be my favorite.

Rating: 10 Why is it nearly all Angra albums need to be listened to like 20 times over before I hear the brilliance? I always originally loved this album, but am only now hearing how much of a masterpiece it is.

Rating: 10 This is simply, one of my all time fave albums from any genre, and up there with early Helloween as far as classicness goes.

While Helloween basically created the genre, with the first 3 albums. With Temple Of Shadows, Angra turned the genre on it's head, and pushed the boundaries of it to unseen levels. Definitely a masterpiece in every sense of the word, and Angra's finest work.

Rating: 9 Damn this is so good! Angra are at their best when they're fast and more aggressive.
Cuca Beludo - 01.02.2012 at 02:34
Milton Nascimento sounds awesome in this album.

Rating: 9 First half of the album warrants a 10 for me as you can't find power metal better than this, second half however is not as good probably an 8. So overall a 9/10.

Rating: 9 Amazing album. I suppose the band were very ambitious and creative when recording this album, but fans of the band probably expected something even better than 'Rebirth' with this, and that's essentially what this album is, although not by that much. The guitar work is, as always, something to marvel at, the symphonic compositions and neo-classical influences are running their course throughout the album and even the vocals add something unique to the album itself. 'The shadow hunter' and 'Late redemption' are personal favourites from this album.
