Having never seen JOOE ever mention one positive thing about old stuff, only negative stuff, you can understand my skepticism.

Wow, not only do you know my own tastes better than I do, you must have read all 12688 of my comments on the 9 years I've spent on the site, all in the 6 months you've spent here. I bow to you sir, you are a true paragon of logical and balanced thought.

FFS learn to read.. For JOOE old stuff does NOT suck, just SOME old stuff sucks.

Having never seen JOOE ever mention one positive thing about old stuff, only negative stuff, you can understand my skepticism.

Oh, look what I found here. Previous page, on this very thread.

Let's ignore the fact I enjoy the likes of Bathory, Mercyful Fate, Sabbat (both UK and JPN, in fact), Tormentor, Possessed and so on, because that wouldn't fit into your neat little package of how well you know people and their taste. It saves you having to deal with the possibility that someone could dislike Celtic Frost / x band because of the way Celtic Frost / x band sound, not the era they come from.

Seriously, follow Marcel's advice and read properly.

In 6 months I've been here, I've mainly seen you sledge old stuff and old school bands. I think the only positive post was about Bathory.

Oh and name dropping 6 bands out of thousands in a single decade - whopee do.

I'm sorry I don't hark on about bands from the 80s in every post I make. I guess in the 9 years I've been here I've spoken about them enough. And please don't pretend you would even be happy if I gave 50 examples. We already did this, and you accused me of liking hipster-y, underground, obscure bands purely on the basis of me not liking a few archetypal bands like Iron Maiden and Metallica. You've created a visage of me in your mind that you absolutely refuse to break, despite all the evidence and testimony from others. One that suits your modus operandi when it comes to my opinions, because it's easier for you to make me into a straw-man instead of actually taking onboard what I say at face value, preferring the ignorant approach. Alex is correct; you don't respect other's opinions.

Anyway, I don't really want to get banned because of your personality shortcomings, so this will most definitely be the last I say on the matter here.

Hi, [Insert staff member username here]! I'm going to stir this a bit ontopic now that this is finally over (the decision of ignoring was the smartest thing he's done yet). So you can just delete everything before this post!

I really dig this album. Would probably give it a solid 7,5. It won't get higher but definitely not lower. Some songs are easily of my favorites from the 80s. I've been listening to a lot of Celtic Frost lately since I got a bit hooked after the Triptykon set at Roadburn. I went apeshit when they played Circle Of The Tyrants. I don't consider them overrated in terms of legacy but the music doesn't WOW me that much in the end. Oh, and THAT artwork though. But everybody knows that.

So you hate bands just because we hate bands you like, and so you decide to bash bands and albums that are actually good and sometimes new just because you have a petty need to get even and crave attention?

How utterly, utterly expected.

So petty in fact he gave us a nice mention on his profile page

To be fair, this stuff here reminds me of a certain person who had written a certain Enslaved review hahah. Though I think he did not refer to anyone on his profile at least.

Haha I agree. This reminds me more of Vonpire than anyone else, though, because deadone was (at times) equally incoherent. I don't get the album reference deadone had made on his profile or how Lit translated to Angry Little Man and how !J.O.O.E.! translated to Hipster JOOE.

The wheels on the bus go round and round.

why does every difference of opinion nowadays seemingly result in a stream of keyboard smashing and reports or private messages lighting up my inbox like Las Vegas.

ALL opinions are correct, everyone is entitled to say this is good, bad, or in between.

Baiting others (the shit in your mouth post a page back) is against our guidelines, and while I went light with a warning this time, seeing the same names over and over again, I will not be so lighthanded the next time one of these breaks out.

Try and try as I might, I cannot penetrate the love for this album. I have some interest in a few tracks, but overall it just feels like a lesser version of Venom. I would choose Triptykon over this any day. This may just be a grower though. I'll give it a rest and come back to it in a few months.

Low energy, lacking balls and a kick to teeth feel. Those operatic female wails on Necromantical Screams are the only memorable thing about this album.

Growing

Damn, it sucks to see so many negative comments for such a great record. This is a brilliant record, and not just for its infuence (if anything Slayer's Hell Awaits sounds more influential soundwise to black metal), but because it has some of the coolest riffs in classic thrash and one of the best uses of tempo changes, and of course, a great atmosphere comparable only with Reign in Blood. The vocals are the weakest, as they sound like they barely fit with the rest of the music, but they compensate by sheer original originality.

I really don't get the avant-garde label, than again I don't understand it with CF in general, like Monotheist, they seem to swtich between thrash and doom-metal. I prefer this to Monotheist, as I think this has a better atmosphere, and overall sounds more unique.
