Ever had a burger so good it ruined every other burger for you? I have. In fact, I'm a goddam burger connoisseur. Those who have had the pleasure of eating at Kuma's in Chicago or watch How I Met Your Mother know what I am talking about. Well, for many, The Great Mass was that burger. It was just so juicy and flavorful in its mastery of death/goth fusion and amazing symphonics. Three years have passed now, with the fond memories of that burger only growing every day. So it came as little surprise when Septicflesh's latest meaty outing garnered mixed reviews.

Love "Titan" and now I insist on filling out my library with the previous 3 CD's. Why did it take me so long to discover this band? I know the loss of Fotis disappoints some, but nothing lasts forever and I will have 4 great discs to listen to. We will see what comes next. A nice shift from Behemoth to Septicflesh as favs.

Good album, but it didn't impress me a whole lot. Going to spin it a couple times more to find out if it's a grower or not.

It's definitely a grower I would say, I was kinda disappointed on my first listen. Though I prefer their previous albums.

Grower for me as well. Now it's my #2 for 2014.

Yet again, unimpressed. I guess the days of Communion and Sumerian Daemons are long over, when the band made compelling music. These past two albums are soulless

Well, to be honest it didn't stay interesting for me. The orchestra sounds great but nothing stood out.

The songs aren't bad, but the album just sounds kinda lazy compared to previous releases. And that is definitely caused by the overwhelming orchestration. Drums are so dry and pushed to the back that I can't bear to listen it without constantly being pissed by it.

"Burn" is probably the only song that I can see working live. Actually, I even saw them at Hellfest 2014 front row, but none of the songs from this album were memorable; the simple songs like "Anubis" take that cake.
While I'm not calling the album crap for being too complicated, it certainly suffers from the lack of catchiness. "The Great Mass" was somewhat complex, but it wasn't nearly as tiring as this one.

And, yes it took me this long to listen the album with thought. If I had it playing in the background, it just went by and I couldn't really remember anything from it. The experience with the other last 2 albums was quite the opposite.

Though I don't really enjoy their songwriting overall or the vocals, this album had a lot more highlights then anything else I've heard from them, which is basically everything post-Communion.
