Biography

From the quiet hills of western Massachusetts, Necronomichrist explodes with throat-crushing brutality, each song a compound fracture of melodic precision jutting from unchecked chaos. Known for crafting nuanced extreme metal as well as delivering unforgettable live performances, the band is preparing to unleash their second full-length album in late 2022.

Founded in 2006 by drummer/keyboardist Kendall “Pariah” Divoll and bassist Nathan Plummer, the lineup was soon solidified with guitarist/backup vocalist Lenny Patterson and lead vocalist Bill Sawin.

Fans of Death, Gojira, Vital Remains, Deicide, and Cannibal Corpse will appreciate the ferocity of Necronomichrist’s previous releases, including EPs The Intimacy of Armageddon (2009) and Necronomichrist (2019), 2015 full-length Apparitions of the Obscene, and 2019 singles “Slicing, Carving, Grinding” and “Surprise! You're Dead!”. The band has proudly shared the stage with some of their inspirations, opening for Deicide and the Death to All Tour; they’ve also played alongside the likes of Gorguts, Dying Fetus, Origin, Jungle Rot, Cradle of Filth, and Exhumed, and anchored lineups at countless local and regional shows. Always active in the music scene, Pariah and Patterson additionally lend their talents to Fetal Blood Eagle, featuring members of Solium Fatalis, Unflesh, and Aborted.

2022 finds Pariah back in the producer’s chair as Necronomichrist fine-tunes their upcoming album The Illusion of Purpose. With themes of existentialism, Absurdism, and self empowerment, Pariah says, “Illusion will introduce new elements into the songs while remaining true to the Necronomichrist sound.” Listeners looking for melody and depth beyond the offerings of mass-produced extreme metal will find their new favorite band in Necronomichrist.
