Biography
Dedicted play a blend of progressive aggression and melody.
They present their first full length album ' Argonauts ' on Shiver Records.
The album title refers to the heroes in Greek mythology who set off on an epic journey on the 'Argo'. At the same time, it refers to the 'Ship of Fools' which is thought to have been sailing the waters of Europe at the end of the Middle Ages, carrying madmen away from the cities which could not longer deal with them. Listening to this album will let you experience both journeys at the same time: progressive riffs feeling as if the vessel is caught by a heavy storm in the midst of the ocean, swivelling from left to right and up and down, accompanied with thunderous vocals; choruses sounding like the eye of the storm and breaks announcing the tempest's second strike. With this album Dedicted is ready to set off on their journey to bring their metal madness to the mad hordes of metal across the globe. Look out for Dedicted anchoring in your town!

Formed in 1998, DEDICTED started out as an Ostend-based hardcore/metalcore band. Back then, Ostend had a lot of cool bands around, like Jennifer 8, In The Attic, Deadline, Betterfood, No Excuse, BEDP, and so on. And the Flemish H8000 scene in general was at its peak and really booming with bands like Mindstab, Congress, Liar, Vitality, Sektor, Deformity and many, many more.
Dedicted's first musical outings were heavilly influenced by these bands. Fast picking, groovy playing, moshparts and breakdowns were the basic ingredients for their first songs, back then labeled as hardcore/metalcore by the band's members themselves.
Circa 1999 guitarist Ruben Platteeuw and vocalist Mehdi Vandecappelle joined the ranks of the Ostend-based trio and the musical direction shifted more towards metal. Demos were made, shows were played and the band had found its musical course.
Over the years, several members left the band. Some of them came back, some of them didn't... Nonetheless, DEDICTED kept playing shows, taught themselves how to use audio-equipment to record songs themselves, and basically kept going strong. This resulted in a record deal with Belgian label SHIVER RECORDS. The first full-length album "ARGONAUTS" was released in 2008, and their first big show came along: Graspop 2008!
Things were finally going well for the band. Sadly enough, at the end of 2009 they had to part ways with longtime friend and vocalist Mehdi. A replacement was found in Maarten Levecque (Lost In Rhone, Disnight, Nemea, ?) and the band immediately started writing new material. They played a lot of live shows during this period, one of them being an opening spot for the legendary band SOULFLY.
DEDICTED's new album "ECDYSIS" is more of a "tag-team" effort as opposed to their previous album "ARGONAUTS". One year of hard work , devotion and the will to create some original music resulted in 7 awesome tunes. Self-recorded, self-funded and basically released on their own terms, "ECDYSIS" is the result of years of hard work and devotion to music.
